Some implementations are directed generally toward analyzing a corpus of electronic communications to determine relationships between one or more original message features of 'original' messages of electronic communications and reply content that is included in “reply” messages of those electronic communications. Some implementations are directed generally toward providing reply text to include in a reply to a communication based on determined relationships between one or more message features of the communication and the reply text.

Determining reply content for a reply to an electronic communication

Methods and apparatus related to determining non-textual reply content for a reply to an electronic communication and providing the non-textual reply content for inclusion in the reply. Some of those implementations are directed to determining, based on an electronic communication sent to a user, one or more electronic documents that are responsive to the electronic communication, and providing one or more of those electronic documents for inclusion in a reply by the user to the electronic communication. For example, the electronic documents may be automatically attached to the reply and/or link(s) to the electronic documents automatically provided in the reply.

Methods and apparatus related to associating a quality measure with a given location. For example, an anticipated distance value for a given location may be identified that is indicative of anticipated time and/or distance to reach the given location. At least one actual distance may be identified that is indicative of actual time for the one or more members to reach the given location. In some implementations, the anticipated/actual distance values may include one or more distributions. A quality measure is then determined based on a comparison of the anticipated distance value and the identified actual distance value. The quality measure is associated with the given location. The quality measure may be further based on additional factors.

Determining the quality of locations based on travel time investment

Techniques are described for generating an authority value of a first one of a plurality of documents. A first component of the authority value is generated with reference to outbound links associated with the first document. The outbound links enable access to a first subset of the plurality of documents. A second component of the authority value is generated with reference to a second subset of the plurality of documents. Each of the second subset of documents represents a potential starting point for a user session. A third component of the authority value is generated representing a likelihood that a user session initiated by any of a population of users will end with the first document. The first, second, and third components of the authority value are combined to generate the authority value. At least one of the first, second, and third components of the authority value is computed with reference to user data relating to at least some of the outbound links and the second subset of documents.

User-sensitive PageRank

Methods and apparatus related to determining a characteristic of a location based on visit data associated with the location. Visit data indicative of travel of users to a first location from one or more other locations and/or of travel of users from the first location to one or more other locations may be utilized to determine information about the location. In some implementations visit data may be utilized to determine a connectedness measure and associate the second location with the first location based on the connectedness measure. A characteristic of the first location may optionally be determined based on a characteristic of the second location and/or an attribute associated with the visit data.

Determining information about a location based on travel related to the location

Methods and systems are described for navigating a corpus of content items stored in one or more information repositories within a distributed communications system. The content items may include video feeds, audio feeds, television broadcasts, website, a web log or the like. Using any browser application, the user views content items presented in an interactive scroll display. Modules are included for filtering, sorting and sampling content to ensure delivery of relevant high-quality content to the user. System and/or method for obtaining of user generated content boxes

An improved system and method for selecting and visualizing object metadata evolving over time is provided. An application may generate a visualization depicting the temporal evolution of metadata describing objects in an object store over a plurality of time intervals. The application may switch between a visualization of object metadata flowing like a river or cascading like a waterfall over time. A ranked list of metadata items may be determined for some pre-selected intervals during a pre-processing step. Then at runtime when a request may be received for providing a ranked list of metadata items for a query interval, a combination of time intervals from the pre-selected time intervals may be determined that cover the query time interval, and the ranked lists of metadata items for each time interval in the combination of time intervals that cover the query time interval may be aggregated and output for visualization.
