A granule comprising (a) at least three cores comprising a biological active and a plasticizable polymer, wherein the cores are made of a material having an elongation upon break of at least 30%, and wherein the diameter of the cores is at least 50 &#x3bc;m and at most two thirds of the diameter of the granule; (b) a solid matrix interspacing the cores of (a), wherein the solid matrix is made of a material having an elongation upon break of less than 30%; and (c) optionally a coating consisting of one or more layer(s) surrounding the granule. A detergent composition comprising a detergent builder, a surfactant, and a granule as described. Use of the granule as a component in a process for manufacturing a detergent composition.

Multi-core granules

Continuous mixing in a static mixer possible can be used to add one kind of particles (such as an enzyme granular product) in a small amount to a larger amount of a different kind of particles (such as a powder stream of detergent powder), even if the powder characteristics are substantially different, with substantially no damage to the enzyme particles and with a high degree of homogeneity.

The stability of enzymes in a powder detergent can be very significantly improved by the combination of four measures: Addition of reducing agent/peroxide decomposing catalyst/antioxidant to the core or the coating; Addition of a multivalent cation to the core; Addition of an acidic buffer to the core or to the coating; Applying a salt coating onto the core.

The present invention relates to a particle comprising an active dispersed in a visco-elastic liquid matrix having a &eegr;&prime; and a &eegr;&Prime; between 10 to 10 Pa measured in a cone-and-plate rheometer at 25&deg; C. and a sinusoidal frequencies &ohgr; of 1 Hz.

Liquid to be atomized is uniformly sprayed on the inner surface of a hollow rotating cylinder, for example by means of one- or two-fluid-nozzles and is thus distributed on apertures provided in the cylinder wall. The rotation of the cylinder causes the liquid to flow outwards through the apertures. Droplets are generated when the liquid flows out of the apertures by laminary decomposition of the jet. The flow rate in each aperture lies in the range 1.0<{dot over (V)} (a &rgr; /&sgr; ) <16 to prevent the droplets from becoming too large and to satisfy the condition of an adequate flow laminarity, i.e. for the value of the Reynolds Number for the continuous liquid flow in the apertures not to exceed Re 400. {dot over (V)} represents the flow rate of the liquid in each aperture, a represents the centrifugal acceleration at the outer surface of the cylinder, &rgr; represents the density of the liquid, and 8 indicates the surface tension of the liquid. The large number N>200 of apertures having the diameter D in the cylinder wall causes the flow rate of liquid through each aperture to be relatively low, so that a continuous laminary flow in each aperture is ensured even at low viscosities and technically useful total flow rates.

Method of cleaning a filter unit, and a filter unit for filtering gas

The liquid to be atomized is uniformly sprayed on the inner surface of a hollow rotating cylinder, for example by means of one- or two-fluid-nozzles and is thus distributed on bores provided in the cylinder wall. The rotation of the cylinder causes the liquid to flow outwards through the bores. Droplets are generated when the liquid flows out of the bores by laminary decomposition of the jet. The flow rate in each bore lies in the range 1.0&lt;V.sub.B (a.sup.3 .rho..sup.5 /.sigma..sup.5).sup.0.25 &lt;16 to prevent the droplets from becoming too large and to satisfy the condition of an adequate flow laminarity, i.e. for the value of the Reynolds number for the continuous liquid flow in the boress not to exceed Re.sub..delta. 400. V.sub.B represents the flow rate of the liquid in each bore, a represents the centrifugal acceleration at the outer surface of the cylinder, .rho. represents the density of the liquid and .delta. indicates the surface tension of the liquid. The large number N&gt;200 of bores having the diameter D.sub.B in the cylinder wall causes the flow rate of liquid through each bore to be relatively low, so that a continuous laminary flow in each bore is ensured even at low viscosities and technically useful total flow rates. Preferably cylindrical bores with a minimum length at least three times larger than the bore diameter are provided in the cylinder wall, with a narrow spacing in the range defined by 1.1&lt;t/D.sub.B &lt;5, so that a number of bores as large as possible may be arranged in the wall of the cylinder.
