A security service for detecting and/or deterring computing attacks. A security service maintains counters related to different attack types for applications or clients including distributed applications. Information regarding requests received by the application are processed by the security service. When any of the counters exceed an associated threshold, an action can be performed in response.

One or more embodiments of the invention relates to a method of managing data in a cluster. The method includes receiving, by a global event manager of the cluster, a notification that an event has occurred on the cluster, wherein the cluster comprises a plurality of file system redirector proxy (FSRP) nodes. In response to the notification, the global event manager performs a load balancing analysis on the cluster to assign an export location of a file system export to a FSRP node of the plurality of FSRP nodes, and notifying each of the plurality of FSRP nodes in the cluster of the event, wherein the notifying results in an update of a global export table of each of the plurality of FSRP nodes of the assigning of the export location to the FSRP node.

Scaling and distributing namespaces and clients across multiple file system redirector proxies

Methods (and systems) described herein provide a specialized technique for automatically scaling resources that provide data protection services to client systems. In some embodiments, the resource units (or pods) may be deployed on a platform (e.g., platform-as-a-service, or PaaS), which provides containerized services (and workloads) as part of a clustered computing environment (e.g., Kubernetes). The technique may scale the number of resource units used to perform data protection operations based on specialized criteria. For example, a particular service (e.g., redirection service) that utilizes resource units (e.g., pods) to perform functions may automatically increase (or decrease) the number resource units available to handle data management operations originating from the client systems.

A computer-implemented method according to one embodiment includes identifying an erasure code storage policy for an unified file and object storage system, determining a plurality of storage disks associated with the erasure code storage policy, retrieving disk health parameters for each of the plurality of storage disks, identifying a number of available outer partition storage blocks for each of the plurality of storage disks, and determining a number of erasure code fragments to be stored for a file within the unified file and object storage system before initiating an objectization process on the file, utilizing the disk health parameters for each of the plurality of storage disks and the number of available outer partition storage blocks for each of the plurality of storage disks.

One system includes a monitor module that monitors data speed characteristics for one or more locations on a storage device. Additionally, the system includes a classification module that determines an erasure code technique for an application, wherein data associated with the application is stored on a storage device. The program instructions are also executable by the processor to cause the processor to, in response to identifying the network event, identify an attribute associated with the IP address of the node. Finally, the program instructions are executable by the processor to cause the processor to, based on the attribute associated with the IP address of the node, determine whether to move the IP address of the node to another node of the sub-cluster.
