A method of applying external electromagnetic fields to stimulate body tissues of a user. The method may include the steps of obtaining a distributor comprising a plurality of electromagnetic coils, obtaining a controller comprising a processor and a memory device, operably connected to one another, the memory device storing code executable by the processor, selecting a source of electrical current, connecting the source to the controller, and positioning a user proximate the distributor. The method may further include controlling, by the controller in accordance with the code, delivery of electrical current sequentially and exclusively to each coil of the plurality of electromagnetic coils to generate a magnetic field extending into the user.

Electromagnetic body tissue stimulation apparatus and method

A display and a method of displaying information are disclosed. The display includes a first display screen including a first plurality of pixels controllable to display a visual indicator. A second display screen includes a second plurality of pixels, wherein the first and second display screens overlap, and wherein each of the first and second display screens is partially transparent. The first and second display screens are controllable to move the visual indicator from a first plane to a second plane responsive to a first user interaction with a user interface component.

Bone-activity stimulation apparatus and method

A method of displaying data or images on a multi-level screen display, assigns screen designation codes to respective software components, to determine the physical screen on which the corresponding images or software components are displayed. The screens may include layered liquid crystal displays. The method allows a user to see overlaying objects at the same time, e.g., toolbars or menus can be displayed on a front screen, and a drawing image can be displayed on a background screen.

Display method for multiple layered screens

A multi-level visual display system has a plurality of screens spaced in the depth direction. A user can move a visual indicator such as a cursor between the screens, via an input device such as a mouse button. In drawing applications a visual link such as a line can be created between two screens. In game applications a user can move an image both within and between screens by dragging a cursor while moving it between the screens, to provide an illusion of three dimensional movement. The screens may comprise layered liquid crystal displays.

A method of displaying data on a multilevel screen display is disclosed. The method comprises assigning screen designation codes to respective groups of data, and determining the physical screen on which each group of data is displayed. The screens may comprise layered liquid crystal displays. The method is suitable for use with spreadsheet software, where a user is able to see overlaying spreadsheets simultaneously.

Multi-layer display and a method for displaying images on such a display

A motion sensor includes a piezoelectric transducer and a ball positioned against the transducer, with the ball rollably engaged with the transducer. The transducer generates an electrical signal in response to motion of the ball on the transducer. In a preferred embodiment, the transducer includes a piezoelectric ceramic composite disc which is bonded to a metallic, preferably brass, plate. The ball is positioned against the brass plate for rolling engagement of the ball on the brass plate. When motion of the ball relative to the transducer occurs, the low frequency rolling movement of the ball on the transducer induces the transducer to generate an electrical signal. In an alternate embodiment, the ball is dispensed with, and the transducer is suspended beneath a circuit board by a stiff wire connected to a first end of the transducer and a flexible wire connected to a second end of the transducer. Both wires are attached to the circuit board, so that the transducer can vibrate about its first end in response to movement of the sensor.

Piezoelectric motion sensor

The present invention relates to power distribution systems and more particularly, to such systems using power storage devices such as batteries and involving a first electrical load best served by a power source having a low current rate and slow discharge period, and a second electrical load best served by a power source having a high current rate and rapid discharge period. One particular application involving these requirements is in automobile electrical systems. The present invention provides an electrical control circuit that functions in conjunction with such power sources to satisfy such electrical system operating requirements. The system of the present invention maintains the power sources in electrically separate condition when the associated vehicle engine is not running, so as to prevent discharge of the power source serving engine starting systems as a result of inadvertent discharge of the other power source. The control circuit detects presence of external conditions such as vibration or voltage drop created as an operator is about to start the engine. The control circuit electrically connects the power sources for starting, and may retain the connection for charging purposes, but disconnects the power sources from each other after engine operation is concluded. Controls are also provided for connection or disconnection of the power source in response to detected conditions such as undesirable voltages or current flows in the electrical system.

Electrical power distribution

The present invention relates to batteries and battery systems. In particular, a battery is described which comprises a container which houses a plurality of cells. Each of the cells share a common negative terminal. Two or more positive terminal cells are provided. The specification also describes the use of such batteries to power the cranking and auxiliary circuits according to a cell discharge management scheme. Methods of forming such batteries are disclosed in which alternate positive and negative electrode plates are provided and methods of forming layered electrode plates are disclosed in which layered grids are provided and by varying the number of layers, thick and thin plates can be provided with different discharge characteristics.

Automotive battery and electrical system

An electrode plate for use in electrochemical cells such as batteries that is formed of multiple layers of electrode material. Each layer is provided with pores through the layer and creases, folds, corrugations, scoring, or the like and is juxtaposed on and electrically connected with the other layers in the plate without intervening layers of opposite polarity. Electrolyte flow by diffusion and/or capillary action takes place within the plate through the pores and between the layers. In an alternative embodiment, a plate is formed of layered grids to which is applied a paste of active material. The grids are then formed into a multilayered plate.
