The invention relates to a lens, comprising a container () defining a volume (V) which is filled with a transparent liquid (), wherein the container () comprises a transparent and elastically deformable membrane () and a rigid member (), wherein the membrane () and the rigid member () delimit said volume (V), and a lens shaping element () that contacts the membrane () and defines an area () of said membrane (), which area () has an adjustable curvature for adjusting the focal length of the lens (). According to the invention, the lens () is configured to compensate a thermal expansion of the liquid () and/or a change of the refractive index of the liquid () due to an increased temperature of the liquid () in order to reduce an unwanted thermally induced change of the focal length of the lens ().

Temperature drift compensation for liquid lenses

The invention relates to an optical device (), comprising: at least a first lens () having an adjustable focal length, wherein the first lens () comprises a container () comprising at least one reservoir volume () and a lens volume () which are in flow communication via a channel () and filled with a transparent fluid (F), and wherein the container () comprises a stretchable transparent membrane () and a transparent lens shaper () that is immersed in the fluid (F) and connected to the membrane (), so that the lens shaper () defines a curvature-adjustable area () of the membrane (), and wherein the container () comprises a transparent back wall () facing the membrane (), wherein the fluid (F) is arranged between the membrane () and the back wall (). According to the present invention, the at least one reservoir volume () is covered by a wall (), wherein a plunger () for interacting with an actuator part (e.g. an electropermanent magnet ()) is arranged in the at least one reservoir volume () and connected to the wall () so that fluid (F) is pumped from the lens volume () into the at least one reservoir volume () when the plunger () is attracted h the electropermanent magnet () whereby the curvature of the curvature-adjustable area () and therewith said focal length is changed.

Tunable non-round spectacles with immersed lens shaper

An actuator including an electrically conducting coil arranged on or integrated into a wall member, wherein the electrically conducting coil is arranged adjacent to a magnetic flux return structure. A magnet connected to a carrier, wherein the magnet interacts with the electrically conducting coil such that when a current is applied to the coil the coil is either moved towards the carrier along an axial direction or away from the carrier along the axial direction depending on a direction of the current within the coil. A magnetic flux guiding structure connected to the carrier, wherein magnetic flux is guided through the flux return structure and the flux guiding structure.

Tunable lens device

The present invention relates to a lens device (), comprising: a transparent and elastically expandable membrane (), an optical element () opposing the membrane (), a wall member (), wherein the optical element () and the membrane () are connected to the wall member () such that a volume (V) is formed, a fluid (F) residing in said volume (V), and a lens shaping member () attached to the membrane (). According to the invention the lens device () comprises an actuator means () that is designed to move the optical element () in an axial direction (A) with respect to the lens shaping member () so as to adjust the pressure of the fluid (F) residing inside the volume (V) and therewith a curvature of said membrane (), wherein said axial direction (A) is oriented perpendicular to a plane spanned by the lens shaping member (), and wherein said actuator means () is designed to tilt the optical element () with respect to said plane, particularly so as to form the volume into a prism for deflecting light passing the volume. Further, the invention relates to a method for adjusting a lens device () and for image stabilization.

The disclosure provides an adjustable optical lens comprising a membrane, a support for the membrane, a fluid between the membrane and the support, an actuator for deforming the membrane, and a rigid ring connected to the membrane for moving with the membrane for ensuring that a section of the membrane surrounded by the rigid ring has a defined circumference.
