Disclosed are various embodiments for triggering a processing of a data object stored in a bucket in a data store. In one embodiment, a cloud computing resource comprising one or more processors in communication with a data store receives a notification event generated in response to a modification of a data object in one or more buckets. The cloud computing resource determines, responsive to the received notification event, that a data object stored in a bucket in the data store has been modified. The cloud computing resource triggers a processing of the data object by executable code associated with the data object. The executable code causes a notification message, processing of the modified data object, or other user specified processes within a platform as a service cloud computing offering.

Processing data object modifications in a networked storage system

Disclosed are various embodiments of a file service. In some embodiments, a plurality of files are stored. Each of the files includes a corresponding file object identifier and a corresponding storage object identifier. A user interface comprises a single view that shows the plurality of files. A file object identifier of a particular file is mapped to a storage object identifier for the particular file. The storage object identifier specifies a network address where a storage object of the particular file is stored. Access is provided to the particular file based at least in part on the storage object identifier.

Disclosed are various embodiments for a local networked storage that is linked to a remote networked storage system. In one embodiment, among others, a computing device obtains a request to read a file stored in a remote networked storage system in association with a user account, in which the request is obtained from a client computing device through a local network. The computing device also determines that the file is stored in a local cache and receives the latest file signature associated with the file from the remote networked storage system. The computing device can determine that the latest file signature corresponds to a file signature of the file stored in the local cache and can determine that the file stored in the local cache corresponds to the latest version of the file. The file can be sent through the local network.

In some cases, as part of a transaction to acquire the electronic content item, an individual may receive an option that is selectable to indicate a preference to send electronic content items acquired by the individual to a personal remote storage space of the individual. When the option to store the electronic content item in the personal remote storage space is not selected by the individual, the electronic content item may be provided directly to a designated computing device of the individual.

In one embodiment, among others, a computing device obtains a request from a client device to read a file stored in a remote networked storage system. The computing device determines whether the file is stored in a local cache. The file is sent to the client device through a local network when the file is stored in the local cache. The computing device obtains the file from the remote networked storage system when the file is not stored in the local cache, where an indication of a user account is provided to the remote networked storage system. The file is sent to the client device in response to the file being obtained from the remote networked storage system.

A set of techniques is described for enabling a virtual machine based transcoding system. The system enables any transcoding provider to make their transcoding service available to other users over a network. The system can automate the deployment, execution and delivery of the transcoding service on behalf of the transcoding provider and enable other users to use the transcoding services to transcode content. The system receives a virtual machine image, transfers the image to a location where the media content is stored and creates a virtual private network of resources that will perform the transcoding of the media content. The virtual private network may be firewalled or otherwise restricted from opening connections with external clients when transcoding the content in order to prevent malicious use of the media content.

Disclosed are various embodiments of a file service which meters costs associated with aggregated file storage. A separate storage area is created for each of a plurality of cost center managers. A default storage area is created that is not associated with any of the cost center managers. Each storage area is divided into a plurality of logical partitions. Each logical partition corresponds to a content user. A content user is allowed to access a file in the corresponding logical partition of the corresponding storage area.

A local area network (LAN) may contain several local computing devices that are in communication with a remote network storage provider that is not part of the LAN. Resources may be available from the remote network storage provider. When a user requests a resource using a first local computing device in the LAN, the first local computing device may check the other local computing devices on that are in the LAN for the resource before requesting the resource from the remote network storage provider. If the resource is available within the LAN, the resource is not requested from the remote network storage provider.

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to the caching of network content requested by a user of a client computing device during a browsing session. The client computing device's various networks and varying bandwidth can have a negative impact on the browsing session. Caching of network content can enhance performance. For example, network content can be cached on a wireless mobile device so that it is available on the device at a further time without requiring significant bandwidth or, in some cases, even a network connection. Predicting the bandwidth at the time the cached content will be accessed can allow customized caching and an improved user experience.

Disclosed are various embodiments for sharing applications initialized to a specified state. In one embodiment, a saved state service receives a plurality of state parameters that describe a state of the application, wherein the state parameters are reported by the application during execution of the application. The save state service then generates a unique data string that corresponds to the state parameters by serializing the state parameters using a data interchange standard. The saved state service may then generate a link to install the application, wherein the link includes the unique data string. In one embodiment, the saved state service serves up the link that, upon invocation on a client, installs the application and initializes the application in the specified state.
