A method and a system for arbitrary optical waveform generation from an optical input, the system comprising an optical shaper comprising unbalanced interferometers with at least one delay, the delay being selected of at least 0.1 ps, an optical sampling readout selected for measuring optical waveforms of at least 0.1 ps; and an electronic processing unit; wherein the optical input is a picosecond pulse; with a minimal pulse duration before the optical shaper equal to a minimal delay of the optical shaper; the optical shaper splitting and interfering optical pulses; the optical sampling readout collecting data at an output of the optical shaper; and the electronic processing unit comparing the collected data with a preset target and updating the optical shaper from results of the comparison until a maximal match between the output of the optical shaper and the preset target output, wherein the maximal match is determined iteratively using one of: machine-learning, optimization algorithms and iterative search algorithms.

System and method for arbitrary optical waveform generation

A method for entropy scaling in quantum random number generators, comprising dividing one spatial mode into multiple spatial modes, delaying each spatial mode, and recombing the spatial modes; detecting first temporal states with synchronisation to a photon generation time and encoding the first temporal states into first time bins; detecting second temporal states in an arbitrary clock, and encoding the second temporal states into second time-bins. The method comprises dividing a source of single photons into two paths in a first beam splitter and recombining the two paths in a next beam splitter, repeatedly, in a cascade of n beam splitters, consecutive beam splitters being separated by a length of fiber, yielding a number I=2of temporal states for each photon; detecting first temporal states by measuring a photon rate in a temporal window selected to measure photon arrival times, with synchronisation to a generation time of the photons, and encoding the first temporal states into first time bins, a number of the first temporal states being I=2; detecting second temporal states by measuring a photon rate in the selected temporal window, in absence of synchronisation to the generation time of the photon, and encoding the second temporal states into second time-bins, a number of the second time bins being N; thereby generating a state space for each photon of N×I.

Method and system for extractable randomness scaling in quantum random number generators

A method and a system for controlling an output of an optical system, the method comprising generating a plurality of optical signal components having different optical properties and passing the generated optical signal components as input to an optical system comprising an optical device and/or an optical medium; an output of the optical system being based on interactions of the signal components within the optical device and/or the optical medium; and relative proportions of the optical signal components that are generated and individual optical properties thereof being selected to control the output of the optical system.

Method and system for nonlinear optical process optimization via temporal pulse splitting

A method and a system for generating a hyper-entangled high-dimensional time-bin frequency-bin state, the method comprising generating a hyper-entangled state composed of a time-bin and frequency-bin encoded state, and individually modifying at least one of: i) the amplitude and ii) the phase of the state components at different frequency-bins and different time-bins of the hyper-entangled state. The system comprises a non-linear medium exited with multiple pulses in broad phase-matching conditions, a frequency mode separator and an amplitude/phase modulator, the frequency mode separator temporally and spatially separating frequency modes of the hyper-entangled state, the amplitude/phase modulator individually modifying at least one of: i) the amplitude (and ii) the phase of the state components at different frequency-bins and different time-bins of the hyper-entangled state.

Method and system for generation and control of high-dimensional multi-partite quantum states

A system and a method for phase extraction of a multi-path interferometer, the method comprising generating a reference signal of a coherence length longer than an arm length difference of the multi-path interferometer; splitting the reference signal into a frequency shifted reference signal and an unshifted reference signal; recombining the frequency shifted reference signal and the unshifted reference signal into a polarization- and frequency-multiplexed reference signal, and feeding the polarization- and frequency-multiplexed reference signal to the multi-path interferometer; detecting frequency shifted and unshifted output signals of the multi-path interferometer; and determining the interferometer phase from the detected signal.

System and method for stabilization of multi-path optical interferometers

A system and method for phase-readout/control and active stabilization on arbitrary interferometric phase in the optical interferometer platform is disclosed. The method makes use of a bi-colored polarization-multiplexed reference laser scheme. The disclosed scheme is based on two phase-locked reference signals with different frequencies that together remove the phase ambiguity. The two signals are polarization-multiplexed (either in free-space or optical fiber implementations) to enable easy separation and combining of these two signals through the use of polarization beam-splitters. The disclosed scheme provides a one-to-one map between phase and feedback signal levels, and enables phase-readout and stabilization even when one of the feedback-signals is at a maximum/minimum.

The system comprises a multi-colored laser source exiting a nonlinear third-order resonator at different resonance frequencies belonging to different mode families of the resonator.

Method and system for the generation of optical multipartite quantum states

A passive mode-locked laser method and system, the system comprising a nonlinear optical loop comprising a resonant nonlinear element, coupled to an amplification section by a beam splitter, the beam splitter splitting a light beam from the amplification section into light beams propagating in opposite directions around the nonlinear optical loop, the resonant nonlinear element acting as both a nonlinear element and a narrow bandwidth filter for the laser system, allowing mode-locking operation of the system on a single resonance of the resonant nonlinear element.
