Disclosed herein are apparatuses, systems, and methods using or implementing dynamic resource allocation (DRA) of resources for machine-type communication (MTC), as a secondary partition within a system bandwidth. Allocations outside the secondary partition are configured as a primary partition for other than MTC. Apparatuses may perform MTC communications within the secondary partition when DRA configuration information includes allocation information for the secondary partition and the apparatus is configured for MTC. Otherwise, if the apparatus is other than MTC, the apparatus may refrain from performing communications in the secondary partition. Other embodiments are described.

Dynamic resource allocation for machine-type communication

Techniques for unifying split bearers at user equipment (UE) in an Evolved-Universal Terrestrial Radio Access-New Radio (E-ULTRA NR) dual connectivity (EN-DC) environment are described. According to various such techniques, a radio resource control (RRC) message can include an encapsulated configuration for a secondary cell group (SCG). Packet data convergence protocol (PDCP) configurations for MN or SN split bearers can be included in the master cell group (MCG) configuration in the RRC message or in the encapsulated SCG configuration. In some examples, an RRC message can include an encapsulated SCG configuration and an encapsulated PDCP configuration, where the encapsulated PDCP configuration including PDCP configuration information for the MN or SN split bearer. Other embodiments are described and claimed.

Unifying split bearers in LTE interworking

Wireless communication devices may directly communicate within groups of wireless communication devices using Layer-communications to implement 'push-to-talk' type applications. In one implementation, a method may include generating a floor request signaling message to take control of a communication channel for a group. After transmitting data relating to the communications, a floor release signaling message may be generated and transmitted a number of times.

Multicast-based group communication in ad hoc arrangements of wireless devices

User equipment (UE), an enhanced NodeB (eNB) and method of reducing handover latency are generally described. The UE may transmit measurement feedback to the eNB based on control signals. The UE may receive a reconfiguration message from the eNB or another eNB to the UE is attached. The reconfiguration message may contain reconfiguration information indicating whether or not a physical layer or layer 2 of the UE is to be reconfigured and/or a security key is to be updated. The reconfiguration information may be dependent on whether the handover is between eNBs controlled by a same entity and/or whether the handover comprises an intra-frequency transition. The UE or eNB may initiate handover of the UE. During handover the UE may avoid physical layer or layer 2 reconfiguration or the security key update. The security key and data for the UE may be provided directly between the eNBs.

Seamless mobility for 5G and LTE systems and devices

Dynamic partition resource allocation in 5G networks

User equipment (UEs) can fallback to a legacy system, such as an evolved packet system (EPS), from a fifth generation system (5GS). For example, a UE camps on the 5GS network by default. When an indicator of a voice call is detected, the UE performs a fallback to EPS for a duration of the voice call. After the voice call, the UE can return to the 5GS. In another example, the UE detects an emergency session request (e.g., internet protocol multimedia subsystem (IMS) emergency session request). The UE performs a fallback to EPS for a duration of the emergency session. After the emergency session is complete, the UE can return to the 5GS. The solution can operate with UEs that operate in either Single Registration (SR) mode embodiments or Dual Registration (DR) mode embodiments. Depending on the embodiment, the UE can perform a handover or redirection to the legacy system (such as E-UTRAN).

Systems, methods and devices for legacy system fallback in a cellular communications system

A user equipment (UE) is configured to scan for device-to-device synchronization sources based on scanning configuration information. The UE is configured to report detection of a device-to-device synchronization source to an Evolved Universal Terrestrial Radio Access Network (E-UTRAN) Node B (eNB) in response to determining that the device-to-device synchronization source meets one or more reporting requirements of the scanning configuration information. The UE is configured to receive a communication from the eNB enabling the UE as a synchronization source and transmit signals to provide a synchronization reference to one or more in-range UEs including the device-to-device synchronization source.

Systems, methods, and devices for synchronization source selection for device-to-device communication

Technology for an eNodeB operable to resolve predefined types of concurrent communications at a relay user equipment (UE) is disclosed. The eNodeB can identify the relay UE that is configured to relay proximity services (ProSe) traffic between the eNodeB and a remote UE. The relay UE can be in-coverage of the eNodeB and the remote UE can be in-coverage or out-of-coverage of the eNodeB. The eNodeB can communicate control signaling to at least one of the relay UE and the remote UE to resolve predefined types of communications performed at the relay UE or the remote UE to defined subframes. The control signaling can provide concurrency avoidance at the relay UE for predefined types of concurrent communications between the relay UE and at least one of the eNodeB and the remote UE.

Disclosed in some examples are systems, machine-readable media, methods, and cellular wireless devices which implement a Listen Before Talk (LBT) access scheme for a device operating according to a cellular wireless protocol in an unlicensed channel. A cellular wireless device may utilize the cellular wireless protocol in the unlicensed channel after the LBT access scheme has determined that a channel (a defined range of frequencies) in the unlicensed channel is idle for a particular period of time.

Listen before talk for cellular in unlicensed band

An architecture configured to be employed within one or more user equipments (UEs). The architecture includes a communications array and a control component. The communications array is configured to receive one or more reference signals of one or more reference signal ports of a subframe. The reference signals are analog beamformed cell-specific reference signals associated with one or more cells. The control component is configured to decode the received reference signals and perform analog beam tracking and demodulation based on the one or more received reference signals.

Reference signals, measurements, and demodulation architectures and methods

Technology for an eNodeB operable to control communications at a relay user equipment (UE) is disclosed. The eNodeB can select the relay UE to relay proximity services (ProSe) traffic between the eNodeB and a remote UE based on one or more relay quality indicators associated with the relay UE. The eNodeB can communicate, to the relay UE, control signaling to configure one or more orthogonal timelines to cause the relay UE to resolve ProSe communications between the relay UE and the remote UE that conflict with uplink hybrid automatic repeat request (HARQ) acknowledgement (ACK) or negative acknowledgement (NACK) transmissions from the relay UE to the eNodeB.

Resolving concurrent communications at a relay user equipment (UE)

Embodiments of a UE and methods for D2D communication are generally described herein. The UE may transmit, as part of an in-network communication session, a D2D discovery status message. The D2D discovery status message may indicate an initiation or termination of a D2D discovery operation at the UE and may indicate if the UE is announcing or monitoring as part of the D2D discovery operation. The D2D discovery operation may be at least partly for configuring a D2D communication session between the UE and one or more other UEs. The UE may transmit, as part of the D2D discovery operation, a D2D discovery signal for reception at one or more other UEs. The UE may transmit and receive D2D packets over a direct link to a second UE as part of the D2D communication session.
