An adaptor device includes a first interface for coupling to a first processor, a second interface for coupling to a second processor, the second interface being different than the first interface, and a plurality of third interfaces, which are different than either the first interface or the second interface. The plurality of third interfaces are configured for coupling to a corresponding plurality of external devices. The adaptor device is configured to receive, at the first interface, a first signal from the first processor. In response to the first signal, the adaptor device couples through the plurality of third interfaces to the plurality of external devices to enable the first processor substantially concurrent access to the plurality of external devices. The adaptor device is also configured to receive, at the first interface, a second signal from the first processor. In response to the second signal, the adaptor device couples the second processor with a selected one of the plurality of external devices.

In-chip bus tracer

A receiver including recovery, error, and control modules. The recovery module: receives a data signal and an offset value; based on a coefficient, equalizes the data signal to generate an equalized signal; and generates a recovered signal based on the equalized signal. The recovered signal includes data recovered by the recovery module. The error module generates an error value based on a difference between the equalized signal and a threshold. The control module, based on the offset value, the recovered signal, and the error value: generates the coefficient; determines the threshold; and determines a characteristic of an eye diagram of the recovered signal. The recovered signal has a non-repeating pattern such that overlaid traces of the recovered signal are in a shape of an eye and provide the eye diagram. The overlaid traces include jitter. The control module generates the coefficient to reduce an amount of the jitter.

Method and apparatus for reducing jitter in overlaid traces of an eye diagram of a recovered signal generated based on a received data signal

A peripheral device includes a host interface, a power interface, a switch, a control module, and a regulator. The host interface transfers data between the peripheral device and a host. The power interface receives power from a power source. The power source is separate from the peripheral device and the host. The control module monitors the host interface and generates a control signal to transition the switch from a first state to a second state when the host interface does not receive an expected signal from the host. The regulator powers the control module and a circuit of the peripheral device based on the power received from the power source. The control module is separate from the circuit. The switch activates the control module, the regulator and the circuit when in the first state and deactivates the control module, the regulator and the circuit when in the second state.

Power smart peripheral devices with external power supplies

A system including a filter circuit, an error module, and a measurement module. The filter circuit receives, from a network device, an analog signal having jitter, generates an equalized signal based on digital feedback signals and the analog signal, and generates a recovered data signal based on the equalized signal. The recovered data signal includes data transmitted by the network device to the system. The error module generates an error signal based on the equalized signal and a threshold signal. The measurement module generates a multiple signals based on the recovered data signal, and the error signal. The multiple signals include the digital feedback signals and eye characteristic signals. The eye characteristic signals indicate characteristics of an eye diagram of the recovered data signal. The measurement module generates the digital feedback signals such that the eye diagram of the recovered data signal does not include the jitter.

Non-intrusive eye monitor system

A system including a summer, a comparator, a zero-crossing module, and a control module. The summer is configured to (i) receive a data input signal, and (ii) generate an equalized signal in response to the data input signal. The comparator is configured to generate a recovered data signal in response to the equalized signal. The zero-crossing module is configured to generate a zero-crossing signal in response to the equalized signal. The control module is configured to generate eye information in response to i) the recovered data signal and ii) the zero-crossing signal. The eye information includes characteristic data associated with the recovered data signal, and the characteristic data when plotted provides an eye diagram.
