Transient voltage surge protection circuitry for a plurality of transmission line-pairs (10-18) utilizes a single multi-terminal protective network (34) coupled to individual lines (52-56) of the transmission line-pairs by full-wave diode bridge circuits (48) and resettable fuse elements (62,64).

Sharing arrangement for surge protection circuitry

A tap connector (12) for a coaxial cable to provide signal and signal ground connection to a transceiver. The connector (12) includes a shunt subassembly (54) which provides a low impedance pathway for EMI and ESD from the signal ground to earth ground on the transceiver. The shunt subassembly includes a grounding strap (56) connected to a the signal ground, a chip capacitor (68), a circuit board (62), and a screw (78) to connect to earth ground on the transceiver (14).

ESD and EMI protected ethernet LAN tap

An assembly mounted to a grounded chassis and connected between first and second multi-conductor cables carrying a plurality of transmission line-pairs. The assembly provides transient voltage surge protection to the plurality of line-pairs. The protective circuitry is mounted on a printed circuit board along with connectors and is contained within an insulative housing. The connectors of the assembly are mounted to the printed circuit board and are matable with connectors terminating multi-conductor cables so that the protective circuitry is interposed in the line-pairs carried by the cables.

Transient voltage surge protection assembly for telecommunications lines

An electrical connector (10) and a filter insert (60) include a planar inductor (62) having recesses (63) containing MOV voltage surge protectors (72) fitted therein with conductive traces (68) formed on the surface of the inductor connecting signal pin portions (50) of contacts (44) that extend through the inductor to the protectors and ground traces (70) that connect the protectors to ground circuits provided by the shell portion (22), the inductor providing an L and the protector providing an internal C to form an LC network filtering out unwanted signal frequency components; the protector (72) operating to connect signal traces to a ground trace in the presence of excessive voltage transients. The insert (60) is dimensioned to fit interiorly of the connector (10). A multi-pin connector is contemplated with a common inductor plate (62) for such connector.
