A density-based flow control configuration includes a housing and a first baffle having a first flow opening, a second baffle having a second flow opening adjacent the first baffle, one of the baffles being rotationally movable relative to the housing and to the other of the baffles, a first density float associated with the movable baffle, to impart torque to the associated baffle, the torque causing alignment or misalignment of the first and second openings. A method for allowing flow of a target fluid and choking flow of a nontarget fluid, including exposing a density-based flow control configuration to a fluid, imparting torque to a first baffle, and aligning or misaligning an opening in the first baffle with another opening to allow or choke flow of the fluid. An electrical submersible pump assembly has a motor with a stator stack of limitations. The stack has slots through which magnet wires are wound. An encapsulate surrounds and bonds the magnet wires together within each slot. The encapsulate includes ceramic particles within a polymer adhesive matrix. The polymer matrix may be a fluoropolymer adhesive. Each of the magnet wires may have an electrical insulation layer surrounding a copper core. The ceramic particles are rounded and much smaller than a cross-sectional area of each of the magnet wires. At least some of the magnet wires may be in contact with a perimeter of the slot. The ceramic particles may be porous.

A power cable for an electrical submersible well pump has at least one insulated conductor and an armor strip wrapped in helical turns around the conductor. The armor strip has a steel layer and a first polymer layer bonded to a first side of the steel layer. Each of the helical turns of the armor strip overlaps with another of the helical turns, causing the first polymer layer of each of the helical turns to form a seal with of a next one of the helical turns. A second polymer layer may be bonded to a second side of the steel layer. The second polymer layer of each of the helical turns overlies in sealing contact with the first polymer layer of the next one of the helical turns.

Degradable extrusion resistant compositions and articles of manufacture

A seal assembly features radially stacked sealing elements separated by a ring shaped structural member with the structural member configured to fold on itself as the inner and outer sealing elements are axially compressed during the setting process. The structural member remains embedded in the outer sealing element when the assembly is set. Seal rings flank the inner and outer sealing element and feature an outwardly facing bevel to contact a conforming bevel shape on extrusion ring assemblies. During axial compression the extrusion rings are pushed out with the seal rings and then the inner and outer sealing elements are axially compressed as the structural member's ends come together and its middle folds. The structural member creates gaps to allow fluid to escape during setting.

A degradable polymer composite comprises a polyurethane comprising one or more of the following groups: ester groups; carbonate groups; or ether groups, in a backbone of the polyurethane; and about 1 to about 30 parts by weight of an acidic or basic powder comprising particles having an average size of about 5 microns to about 1 millimeter per 100 parts of the polyurethane.

In another aspect, a method of temporarily sealing a downhole zone is disclosed, including: providing an inner core with a first degradation rate in a downhole environment; providing an outer sheath disposed around an outer extent of the inner core with a second degradation rate less than the first degradation rate in the downhole environment; sealing the downhole zone with the outer sheath; exposing the outer sheath to the downhole environment; and exposing the inner core to the downhole environment.
