Disclosed herein are electrospun fibrous matrix and its production method. The method mainly includes the steps of, mixing a first polymer and a drug to form a first mixture, and sonicating the first mixture until a plurality of microparticles are formed with the drug encapsulated therein; and mixing the plurality of microparticles with a second polymer to form a second mixture, subjecting the second mixture to a wet electrospinning process to form the electrospun fibrous matrix. The thus-produced electrospun fibrous matrix is characterized by having a plurality of first and second fibrils woven together, in which each second fibril has a plurality of drug-encapsulated microparticles independently integrated and disposed along the longitudinal direction of the second fibril. Also disclosed herein is a method for treating a wound of a subject. The method includes applying the present electrospun fibrous matrix to the wound of the subject.

Electrospun fibrous matrix, its preparation method and uses thereof

Disclosed herein are modified chromium-dpoed zinc gallate (ZGC) nanocubes, which are characterized in respectively having a concave surface that is modified with (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES). The modified ZGC nanocubes produce long lasting luminescence (LLL) that lasts for at least 1.5 hours under X-ray or UV excitation. Also disclosed herein are methods for the preparation of the modified ZGC nanocubes; and methods for imaging an area of interest (e.g., cancer) in a live subject using the modified ZGC nanocubes as an imaging agent.

Modified chromium-doped zinc gallate nanocube, its preparation method and uses thereof

Provided herein are aptamers that bind specifically to the surface proteins of periodontal pathogens. Also provided herein are methods for detecting and treating periodontal disease in a subject. The method comprises detecting bacteria associated with periodontal disease by use of the present aptamers to analyze a sample taken from a gum pocket of a tooth of the subject; and treating the periodontal disease of the subject by administering to the gum pocket of the tooth a bactericide or an anti-microbial phototherapy to eradicate the bacteria associated with periodontal disease.

Disclosed herein are aptamers that bind specifically to the surface proteins of periodontal pathogens. Disclosed also herein are kits and methods for detecting bacteria associated with periodontal disease by using the present aptamers to analyze a sample taken from the oral cavity of a patient.

Aptamers of surface proteins of periodontal pathogens and uses thereof

A dental device for treating dental infection includes a dental cast comprising at least one groove to receive teeth and/or gums of a dental arch of the patient; and at least one light diffusing fiber arranged on the dental cast around the at least one groove. The dental device is used in a photodynamic therapeutic system, in which a light source instrument emits light onto a photosensitizer applied in mouth of the patient. The dental device is optically coupled to the light source instrument. The light for treating dental infection of the patient is transmitted by the at least one light diffusing fiber of the dental device and activates the photosensitizer to produce free radicals or oxidants to destroy the bacteria and microbes causing dental disease.

Dental device and photodynamic therapeutic system using same

Nanoparticles are used as a contrast agent for magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography. Each of the nanoparticles includes a metal alloy core and a plurality of hydrophilic molecules covalently bound to the surface of the metal alloy core. Also disclosed is a method for using the contrast agent.

Method of using CT/MRI dual modality contrast agent

The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for elevating radiation-sensitivity of cancer cells, which comprises: a nanoparticle containing with a first element, which is iron, copper, or the combination thereof; and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, wherein the nanoparticle is a metal nanoparticle, an alloy nanoparticle, or a metal nanoparticle with core-shell structure, and the size of the nanoparticle is under a controllable range of 3 nm to 150 nm. In addition, the present invention provides a detection method to detect radiation-sensitivity of the cancer cells through different modalities such as CT or MRI due to its native high CT number and magnetic property. Furthermore, the present invention provides a pharmaceutical composition for elevating radiation-sensitivity of the cancer cells through preferential uptake of the nanoparticle, in order to enhance the radiation-sensitivity of the cancer cells and improve the efficiency of radiation therapy to the cancer cells.

The present invention relates to a nano-carrier for an anticancer drug, which comprises: a metal nanoparticle; and a polynucleotide for connecting with an anticancer drug having a pyrimidine group or a purine group, wherein the polynucleotide connects to a surface of the metal nanoparticle, and the anticancer drug binds to the polynucleotide through the pyrimidine group or the purine group. In addition, the present invention also provides a complex of an anticancer drug and a nano-carrier, a pharmaceutical composition thereof, a method for manufacturing the complex, and a method for treating a cancer by using the pharmaceutical composition.
