A method for applying an image onto a recording medium includes applying a first layer of a radiation-curable ink onto a recording medium; curing the first layer; and applying at least a second layer of radiation-curable ink on top of the first cured layer. The coverage of the first layer is 1.0 g/m2 or less. The first layer of ink is applied onto the recording medium by applying a first ink from an ink set and the second layer is applied by applying at least the first ink from the ink set.

Print method with improved adhesion of prints to recording medium

A print method includes a) applying an activator composition onto a recording medium, the activator composition comprising a photoinitiator; b) applying an inkjet ink composition onto the recording medium, the inkjet ink composition comprising a curable monomer and a gellant, the inkjet ink composition comprising no photo initiator or comprising a photo initiator in an amount of 1.0 wt % or less, based on the total amount of the ink composition; and c) curing the ink and the activator composition. Step c is started within a time period of 2 s-1000 s after applying the ink composition onto the recording medium. an ink set comprising an activator composition and an inkjet ink composition, a software product, and an inkjet printing apparatus are also disclosed.

Print method

The present invention relates to a method for applying an image onto a recording medium. Using the method according to the present invention, images may be printed having a predetermined gloss. The method further enables to make prints having local differences in gloss level. The present invention further relates to an ink-jet printing apparatus.
