A display device with a display region and a non-display region surrounding the display region, the display device comprising: a first substrate and a second substrate. The first substrate comprises: a first insulating substrate; a gate and data line formed on the first insulating substrate; a pixel thin film transistor formed on the display region and electrically connected to the gate line; a pixel electrode electrically connected to the pixel thin film transistor; a gate driver formed on the non-display region and connected to the gate line; and a direct current (DC)/DC converter formed on the non-display region and having a capacitance part. The capacitance part includes: a first capacitance part with a first electrode, a first dielectric layer, and a second electrode; and a second capacitance part with the second electrode, a second dielectric layer, and a third electrode.

Thin film transistor substrate and liquid crystal display device having the same

There are provided a TFT, a TFT substrate using the TFT, a method of fabricating the TFT substrate, and an LCD. The TFT includes a source region, a drain region, and a gate electrode having an opening. The opening of the gate electrode is to enhance the light sensing ability of the TFT when it is used as a light sensor, since light is incident into a region where the opening is formed. The TFT including the gate having the opening can be used in a substrate of a flat display or an LCD using such a substrate. The above TFT can sense light incident from outside the display to adjust the brightness of the screen according to the external illumination.

A liquid crystal display having a plurality of pixels and blocks of shift registers that are connected to one another for temporarily storing data signals and from which the data signal outputs are sequentially applied to drive the pixels. Each of the shift registers receives a shift start signal and at least one of first and second clock signals, of which phases are opposite to each other, and a high period of the shift start signal corresponds to two cycles of the respective clock signals so that each pixel is pre-charged from the data signal from previous block of registers before receiving the data signal for the current block thereby preventing a boundary between blocks from being visually recognized.

The first signal line is formed on the first insulating layer. The first insulating layer insulates the channel layer from the first signal line. The second insulating layer insulates the first signal line from the second and third signal lines, and includes contact holes. The second and third signal lines are connected to the channel layer through the contact holes. The pixel electrode including indium zinc oxide is formed on the identical layer with the first and second signal lines, and disposed on the second insulating layer. Therefore, manufacturing process is simplified and manufacturing time is reduced.

A liquid crystal display includes first to third voltage lines disposed along an edge of the panel unit in a ring shape, fourth to sixth voltage lines disposed along an edge of the panel unit in a ring shape and at outer sides of the first to third voltage lines, respectively, a first diode unit including a first diode group connected in series between the second voltage line and the fifth voltage line wherein the first diode group includes a plurality of diodes, and a second diode unit including a second diode group connected in series between the third voltage line and the sixth voltage line wherein the second diode group includes a plurality of diodes. One end of each of the data lines is connected between the first diode group and the other end thereof is connected between the second diode group via the transmission gate.

Liquid crystal display

Disclosed are a transreflective type LCD, a method of manufacturing the same and a method of thin film transistor thereof. A TFT and a pixel electrode connected with a drain electrode of the TFT are formed on a TFT substrate. The pixel electrode includes a reflective electrode for reflecting a first light from an external and a transmissive electrode for transmitting a second light generated in the transreflective type LCD. The reflective electrode is formed to have a size no more than a size of an area in which the reflective electrode is not overlapped with the transmissive electrode. Thus, visual differences between the reflective and the transmissive modes are reduced. Also, the reflective electrode for reflecting the first light is formed with the TFT through one process, thereby reducing the number of manufacturing processes of the transreflective type LCD and the thickness thereof.
