Disclosed is a radar device capable of operating in a dual mode, which includes a transmitter that includes a first signal generator that generates a Doppler radar signal and a second signal generator that generates a Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) radar signal, a receiver that receives a reflected signal reflected from a target and converts the reflected signal to a digital signal, a signal processing circuit that processes the digital signal differently depending on the dual mode to output an output signal, a signal analysis circuit that analyzes the output signal, and a controller that controls operations of the transmitter, the receiver, the signal processing circuit, and the signal analysis circuit, and the dual mode includes a first mode in which the first signal generator is activated and a second mode in which the second signal generator is activated.

Disclosed are a pulse radar apparatus that detects a position and a motion of a target, and an operating method thereof. The pulse radar apparatus includes a clock signal generator that outputs a transmission clock signal and a reception clock signal, a transmitter that generates a first signal, a receiver that receives an echo signal and the reception clock signal, and generates a second signal, and a signal processor that converts the second signal into a digital signal and analyzes the digital signal. The clock signal generator controls a transmission-to-reception clock delay, and generates a synchronization signal. The signal processor converts the digital signal into a representative value and analyzes the second signal using the representative value. The representative value is one of an accumulated sum of the digital signal in a time duration between synchronization signals and an average value of the digital signal in the time duration between synchronization signals.

Pulse radar apparatus and operating method thereof

Provided is a radar apparatus. The radar apparatus includes a controller configured to generate a variable delay control signal whose value varies with time, a clock generator configured to generate a transmission clock and a reception clock delayed by a delay time varying according to the variable delay control signal than the transmission clock, a transmitter configured to emit a transmission pulse through a transmission antenna based on the transmission clock, a first receiver configured to receive a first echo pulse that the transmission pulse is reflected from a target through a first reception antenna and configured to generate a first recovery signal corresponding to the first echo pulse based on the reception clock, and a second receiver configured to receive a second echo pulse that is the transmission pulse reflected from the target through a second reception antenna and configured to generate a second recovery signal corresponding to the second echo pulse based on the reception clock. The controller is configured to obtain a distance of the target based on at least one of a first delay time between the transmission clock and the reception clock corresponding to the first recovery signal and a second delay time between the transmission clock and the reception clock corresponding to the second recovery signal.

Radar apparatus

Provided is a radar device including a clock generator, a transmitter, and a receiver. The clock generator may output a transmission clock, and output a reception clock after a delay from a time at which the transmission clock is output. The transmitter may include a transmission trigger signal generator to generate a transmission trigger signal based on the transmission clock and an oscillator configured to generate a first signal on the basis of the transmission trigger signal. The first signal and the transmission trigger signal may include a pulse, and a width and a magnitude of the pulse included in the first signal correspond to a width and a magnitude of the pulse included in the transmission trigger signal, respectively. The receiver may be configured to receive an echo signal corresponding to the first signal to generate a second signal based on the reception clock.

Radar device

A radar device according to an embodiment of the inventive concept includes a clock generator, a transmitter, a receiver, and a signal processor. The clock generator outputs the transmission clock, outputs the reception clock at the second time after the delay from the first time when the transmission clock is outputted, and generates the notification signal when the delay has the minimum value. The transmitter emits a transmission signal based on the transmission clock. The receiver receives an echo signal corresponding to the transmission signal, and generates a first signal corresponding to the echo signal based on the reception clock. The signal processor obtains a third time point at which a delay has the minimum value based on the notification signal.

Provided is a pulse radar device including: a TX unit configured to emit a TX pulse according to a single TX clock signal; a multiple-RX units configured to receive echo pulses received through a plurality of RX antennas according to multiple RX clock signals; a pulse radar driving unit configured to generate the single TX clock signal and the multiple RX clock signals using a reference clock signal. The pulse radar driving unit provides the single TX clock signal and the multiple RX clock signals for the TX unit and the multiple-RX unit. A pulse radar receiver includes a power splitter configured to split a transmit (TX) trigger signal for generating a TX pulse, a phase-locked loop (PLL) configured to receive a division ratio and the TX trigger signal split by the power splitter, and generate a sampling frequency, and a sampler configured to sample a reflected wave received through an RX antenna, according to the sampling frequency generated by the PLL. Accordingly, it is possible to provide a high distance resolution by generating a sampling frequency with a difference from a TX pulse to sample a reflected wave received through an RX antenna. Thus, it is possible to overcome a limitation in the distance resolution due to the pulse width and to measure a minute movement at a short distance. Therefore, the pulse radar receiver is applicable to high range resolution radar applications such as a living body measuring radar.

Disclosed is a pulse-signal recovering device with a time-interleaving scheme. Exemplary embodiments of the present invention can improve receive performance of a radar so as to shorten pre-scanning time for roughly determining presence and absence of objects and time consumed to recover received pulse signals in the radar receiver with the sub-sampling scheme by simultaneously sensing signal levels of the received pulse signals at several positions and improve a signal to noise ratio by increasing an averaging rate with respect to the number of same received pulses.
