A secondary battery includes an electrode assembly including a first electrode plate, a second electrode plate and a separator interposed therebetween; and a battery case in which the electrode assembly is accommodated. The first electrode plate is composed of a first coated portion having a first active material coated on a first substrate and a first non-coated portion. The second electrode plate is composed of a second coated portion having a second active material coated on a second substrate and a second non-coated portion. In the secondary battery, the section of a boundary portion between the first or second coated portion and the first or second non-coated portion is inclined.

A light emission device and a display device having the light emission device are provided. A light emission device includes first and second substrates facing each other to form a vacuum envelope. An electron emission unit is provided on the first substrate. A light emission unit is provided on the second substrate to emit light using electrons emitted from the electron emission unit. A spacer uniformly maintains a gap between the first and second substrates. The spacer has a surface resistivity within a range of 10-10&#x3a9;cm.

In one embodiment, the light emission device includes i) first and second substrates facing each other and forming a vacuum vessel, ii) an electron emission unit provided on the first substrate, and iii) a light emission unit provided on the second substrate. A light emission device and a display device using the light emission device as a light source are provided. The light emission device includes a vacuum envelope formed by first and second substrates and a sealing member, first electrodes formed on the first substrate in a first direction, an insulating layer formed on the first substrate and covering the first electrodes, second electrodes formed on the insulating layer in a second direction crossing the first direction, electron emission regions electrically connected to the first electrodes or the second electrodes, a resistive layer for covering a first surface of the insulating layer, the first surface facing the second substrate, a phosphor layer formed on the second substrate, and an anode electrode formed on the phosphor layer.

The light emission device includes first and second substrates facing each other, an electron emission unit located on an inner surface of the first substrate, a phosphor layer located on an inner surface of the second substrate and adapted to be excited by electrons emitted from the electron emission unit, an anode electrode located on the phosphor layer, a heat dissipation plate located at a side of the first substrate, and a thermal diffuser plate located on the second substrate and thermally coupled to the heat dissipation plate.
