8,12-Diisoprostanoic acid compounds and intermediates useful in the processes of making them have been prepared.

8,12-Diisoprostanoic acid derivatives

Optically active 8,12-diisoprostanoic acids and derivatives, processes for making same, pharmaceutical compositions containing same, and intermediates for producing same are disclosed. The acids include, for instance, 5c,13t-11.alpha.,15S-dihydroxy-9-oxo-8,12-diisoprostadienoic acid. The compounds of the present invention can be used in the same uses as the natural prostaglandins, including the treatment of asthma, parturition to facilitate child bearing labor and as abortion agents.

8,12-DISO-14-CHLORO PGE.sub.2 and PGF.sub.2 and 8,12-diso-prosten-ynoic acids have been prepared.

Lactone and laclol intermediates for prosten-ynoic acids have been prepared.

14-Chloro PG.sub.2 compounds have been prepared.

14-Chloro prostadienoic acid compounds

14-Chloro and 13-14 dehydro PG.sub.2 analogues have been prepared.
