The invention describes an illumination device () for illuminating a three dimensional arrangement () in an infrared wavelength spectrum. The illumination device () comprises at least a first group of laser devices () comprising at least one laser device () and at least a second group of laser devices () comprising at least one laser device (). The first and the second group of laser devices () are adapted to be operated independent with respect to each other. The first group of laser devices () is adapted to emit laser light with a first emission characteristic and the second group of laser devices () is adapted to emit laser light with a second emission characteristic different from the first emission characteristic. The invention further describes a distance detection device () and a camera system () comprising such an illumination device (). The different emission characteristics may be used to compensate or take into account the depth of the three dimensional arrangement (). Different parts of the three dimensional arrangement () may be illuminated by means of the first and second emission characteristic in different ways.

Infrared laser illumination device

A trackball module is provided for connecting a trackball to an electrical device, comprising a trackball for being manipulated by hand, a sensor device for detecting a turning of the trackball, a support device for positioning the trackball in a use position, in which the trackball is exposed for being manipulated, and a rest position, in which the trackball is adapted for being received by the electrical device, and an operating direction, which is defined roughly by a line through the center of the trackball and the center of a manipulating surface of the trackball exposed for turning the trackball by hand in the use position.

Trackball module

A controller for controlling the power of a laser that is used in determining the motion of an object includes a power source that is arranged to supply power pulses to the laser in response to a controller signal. The controller controls the generation of pulses during periods in which a reliable result can be obtained, by detecting the laser radiation that has interacted with pulses reflected from the object, in order to conserve power consumption. Further the power pulses include a heating pulse portion, which serves to stabilize the temperature of the laser and calibrate the laser so that a known lasing wavelength is generated.

Laser controller

A method and system are provided for minimizing or optimising radial to vertical crosstalk (RVC) in an error signal in an optical record carrier reader is record carrier losed. Focus error offset values are applied to the reader. The radial to vertical crosstalk is determined after each focus error offset value is applied. The focus error offset value which minimizes or optimises the radial to vertical crosstalk is selected for use by the reader.
