The present invention relates to home devices such as set-top boxes, and more particularly to methods providing autonomous file transfers to and from such home devices. There is provided a method for spreading notifications pertaining to the completion of file transfers in time. The method is based on the concept of imposing different delay times on different devices, which delay times must be observed prior to notifying the server of a file transfer completion.

A Method for providing a trusted feedback () in an access network () is described, wherein a real time service monitor () for real time monitoring the quality of service provided to at least one user () by a server () via the access network () is placed in an access multiplexer () being the last part of the access network () towards the user (), wherein the real time service monitor () is sending a trusted feedback signal () from the access multiplexer () at least back to the server (), which signal () comprises real time information about the quality of service passing through the access multiplexer (), plus an access network () comprising at least one data link connecting at least one access multiplexer () being the last part of the access network () towards at least one user () with a core network or at least one server () providing a service () to the user () connected to the access network () via the access multiplexer () is described, wherein a real time service monitor () is arranged in the access multiplexer () providing real time monitoring of the quality of service passing through the access multiplexer (), wherein the real time service monitor () provides a trusted feedback signal () to the server () comprising information about the quality of service in real time, plus an access multiplexer () adapted to receive a multimedia signal () from a multimedia provider () and to forward at least part of said multimedia signal () to at least one user () is described wherein said access multiplexer () comprises a real-time service monitor () adapted to collect information about the multimedia signal () passing the access multiplexer () and being transmitted between said multimedia provider () and a particular user ().

Access network with trusted real time feedback

A multicarrier receiver which receives a cyclically extended multicarrier symbol which is in a serial format is provided. The multicarrier receiver includes a serial to parallel converter, a window which decreases spectral side lobes of the multicarrier symbol and outputs a windowed multicarrier symbol, a difference term generating unit which generates difference terms from the multicarrier symbol in parallel format, a first Fourier transformer which fast Fourier transforms a single carrier of the windowed multicarrier symbol for all carriers of the windowed multicarrier symbol and outputs a first Fourier transformed carrier, a second Fourier transformer which fast Fourier transforms difference terms, and a per-carrier frequency domain equalizer which equalizes all frequencies by deriving necessary fast Fourier transforms utilizing linear combinations of the first fast Fourier transformed carrier, one or more non-windowed fast Fourier transformed carriers from the second Fourier transformer and the difference terms.
