The system includes a search service application builder that provides a search model. The search model represents a search service application for an object. The search model uses an end-user input field for a first attribute for the object and a user-defined search result output field for a second attribute of the object. The search model has code to generate a user interface. The interface includes an input section for receiving values for the first attribute and a search results section for outputting values of the second attribute. The interface also includes code to generate a search query using a search query model for a selected query type. The interface also includes code to receive search result data returned in response to the search query and code to format the search result data for the search results section.

Methods and systems for building search service application

A system for providing a search service is disclosed and includes a processor-based search service application builder component that provides a search model representing a search service application for a first object of a plurality of objects. The search model is based at least on a user-defined end-user input field corresponding to a first attribute of a plurality of attributes associated with the first object and a user-defined search result output field corresponding to a second attribute of the plurality of attributes. The search model is also associated with a backend data store that supports a storage structure configured to store information relating to the first object. The system also includes a processor-based deployment engine that automatically configures a search engine system associated with the backend data store system to generate and/or update search index(es) based on at least one of the first attribute and the second attribute.

Methods and systems for building a search service application

Techniques are disclosed relating to providing interactive feedback based on changes in search parameters. A computing system may receive user input specifying adjustment of a relevancy parameter from a first value to a modified value. The relevancy parameter may be usable to determine ordering of results for search queries. In response to the input, the system may cause information to be displayed that indicates a value of a search metric, and the value may be based on one or more prior search queries using the adjusted relevancy parameter. The system may additionally or alternatively cause first and second sets of ordered search results to be displayed, where the first set is based on the first value of the relevancy parameter and the second set is based on the modified value of the relevancy parameter.

Interactive feedback for changes in search relevancy parameters

A database system may generate a new case associated with a customer support query. The database system may initiate a search for other cases related to the new case and identify articles linked to the related cases. The database system may identify more relevant articles by finding the related cases that use a similar vocabulary for describing similar customer problems. The database system then identifies the articles used for resolving the prior problems. Thus, the database system may bridge the gap between vocabularies used by customers to describe problems and vocabularies used in articles to describe solutions to those problems.

Identifying relevant material for cases

A system for moving search results visibly comprises an interface, a processor and a memory. The processor is configured to a) determine an ordering of one or more results in a subsequent set of search results as merged into a displayed set of search results; b) determine one or more interleaving positions for the subsequent set of search results in the displayed set of search results; c) cause the creation of one or more blank spaces in the one or more interleaving positions; and d) cause a display of one or more results in the subsequent set of search results in the one or more blank spaces. The memory causes a display of one or more results in the subsequent set of search results in the one or more blank spaces.

User readability improvement for dynamic updating of search results

Federated search is disclosed. A result associated with a search of a content source not natively configured to provide content type data for content items is received. A content type is associated with a content item included in the result based at least in part on information associated with the result.

A method, article of manufacture, and apparatus for displaying search results are disclosed. In an embodiment, this may comprise receiving search results, for a search result, receiving information about search result scores according to a plurality of criteria, using the plurality of criteria to create spokes in a radar chart, associating the search result scores with the spokes in the radar chart, creating a star in the radar chart based on the association of search result scores with the spokes, and displaying the radar chart. Different weight may be given to each search result score. Multiple search results may be displayed in one radar chart, or multiple radar charts may be used.

Relevancy radar

A method, article of manufacture, and apparatus for displaying search results are disclosed. In an embodiment, this may comprise receiving search results, receiving information about search result scores according to a plurality of criteria, creating a star in the radar chart based on the search result scores, coloring the star based on the search result scores, and displaying the radar chart. Different weight may be given to each search result score. Multiple search results may be displayed in one radar chart, or multiple radar charts may be used. Color intensity and hue may be used to represent difference in the search result scores.

A method, article of manufacture, and apparatus for displaying search results are disclosed. In an embodiment, this may comprise receiving search results, for a search result, receiving information about search result scores according to a plurality of criteria, allowing a user to select criteria, using the selected criteria to create spokes in a radar chart, associating the search result scores with the spokes in the radar chart, creating a star in the radar chart based on the association of search result scores with the spokes, and displaying the radar chart. Different weight may be given to each search result score. Multiple search results may be displayed in one radar chart, or multiple radar charts may be used.

Customizable relevancy criteria

Presenting search results is disclosed. At least a portion of a first set of results is displayed in an order determined at least in part by a corresponding attribute of each respective result. An updated display of at least a portion of a combined set that includes at least a part of the first set of results and at least a part of the second set of results in an order determined at least in part by the corresponding attribute of each respective result in the combined set is displayed automatically.

Dynamic updating of display and ranking for search results

Dynamic update of a displayed set of search results is disclosed. One or more search results in a displayed set of search results are shown to move within the display to create a space. One or more additional search results are displayed in the space. In some embodiments, animation techniques are used to provide a more nearly continuous and easy to comprehend update of the displayed results.
