The thermal cutout comprises a casing (1) in which at least a portion of casing (3) is of heat-conducting material, two terminals (5) carried by an electrically insulating plug (4) and an electrically conductive moving element (6) maintained in contact with each terminal (5) by a member (8) which is deformable under the action of heat and which is in turn in contact with the heat-conducting portion of casing (3). The cutout essentially comprises a translationally displaceable electrically insulating member (7) forming a separation between on the one hand the heat-deformable member (8) and on the other hand the terminals (5) and the electrically conductive element (6).

An electronic safety device for automatically interrupting the supply of electric current to a heating resistor of an iron at the end of a predetermined interval of non-use, comprising a movable body adapted to control a position of contacts of an associated switch so that at least one opening-closing sequence of the switch contacts is obtained upon displacement of the movable body. Associated with the switch is a resistor bridge supplied with a rectified voltage E and comprising a first resistor R.sub.1 and a second resistor R.sub.2 in series with the switch contacts. A capacitor is connected to the terminals of resistor R.sub.2, a voltage V.sub.o being collected at the terminals of said resistor R.sub.1 and being applied to one input of a counter which is reset to zero each time voltage V.sub.o is higher than E/2, that is, upon closing of the contacts. The counter is connected to an input of a comparator for transmitting a voltage V.sub.1 when the counter attains a predetermined counting threshold. The comparator is connected to a trigger of a triac having one terminal connected to a current supply and another terminal connected in series to the heating resistor. The comparator is adapted to deliver turn-on pulses to the trigger as long as no voltage V.sub.1 is applied and to stop these turn-on pulses as soon as a voltage V.sub.1 is applied, thereby interrupting the current supply to the heating resistor.

A drawing recipient borne by a body is associated with heating means. A filtering recipient is also associated with heating means and in the operational position is raised and laterally off-set with respect to the drawing recipient. A spout serves as a spill-way from the bottom of the filtering recipient to the drawing recipient. The filtering recipient is pivotably mounted with respect to the body, between the aforesaid operational position in which it overhangs the body, and a fold-away position in which it is brought back over the drawing recipient.

A carriage for receiving the block of wax within the appliance is intended to be pushed by hand towards the duct by means of an external thumb control button.

The electronic circuit of a laundry iron comprises at least one heat-generating element such as a triac or a dropping resistor. The heat dissipator comprises a tubular metallic casing which contains the electronic circuit and is housed within the handle of the laundry iron. The internal cross-section of the handle is similar in shape to the external cross-section of the tubular casing and a thermal bond is provided between the casing and the handle.

An electric resistance heating device including a body having a metal mass and a sheathed electric heating element for heating the mass is provided with a temperature sensing thermistor designed for electronic temperature regulation. The thermistor together with the leads thereof is housed in a shrunk thermoplastic, e.g., PTFE, sheath and is inserted into a cavity within the mass closely approaching the heating element sheath through an orifice closed by a metal sealing plug having substantially the same composition and thermal characteristics as the mass. The cavity and the face of the plug are shaped to closely correspond to the sheath containing the thermistor and leads and any air spaces existing between the sheath, the mass and plug are filled with a silicone putty, such as silastene. The sealing plug is force fit within the orifice or inset therein by plastic deformation of the metallic mass.

An electric steam iron is provided with an auxiliary water injection device to obtain an instantaneous surplus of steam. The point of auxiliary injection (6) is located directly above a boss (3) into which a resistor type heating element (2) is cast. The boss has a planar top surface which is sloped in a direction towards a main vaporization chamber (4). The thickness of the boss between the heating element and its top surface is reduced to effect a rapid vaporization of the injected water.

The water injection device for a steam iron comprises a plunger which is capable of axial displacement over a predetermined range of travel within the orifice of a nozzle which is formed of elastic material and closely encircles the plunger. The nozzle orifice provides a communication between a water reservoir and a vaporization chamber. A longitudinal groove is formed along part of the length of the plunger. The range of travel of the plunger is such that the two ends of the groove are located on each side of the nozzle orifice in the injection position and are located on one side of the orifice in the closed position.

The steam iron comprises a water reservoir fitted with a device for injecting water into a vaporization chamber which occupies substantially the entire space formed between the two arms of a U-shaped electric heating resistor and extends to the level of the rear edge of the sole-plate. The vaporization chamber communicates with a distribution chamber by means of recesses formed in the top edge of a partition-wall in the rear portion of the iron. Vaporization takes place on all the chamber walls and the maximum flow path is provided for the vapor, thereby minimizing scale formation.
