The process allows a high degree of grafting of the polyether to the polymer chains. Also disclosed is a reinforced rubber composition, especially intended for the manufacture of tires, comprising such a diene block copolymer which is intended to interact with the reinforcing filler. Such a rubber composition has improved hysteresis properties in the vulcanized state, while retaining satisfactory processing properties in the non-vulcanized state.

Process for preparing a diene copolymer comprising a polyether block, diene copolymer comprising a polyether block, reinforced rubber composition and tire

A process for preparing, in one step, a diene block copolymer, of which at least one of these blocks is constituted of a polyether, the number-average molecular weight of which is approximately from 100 to 5000 g/mol, and at least one other of these blocks is constituted of a diene elastomer. The process according to the invention allows a high degree of grafting of the polyether to the polymer chains. Also disclosed is a reinforced rubber composition, especially intended for the manufacture of tires, comprising such a block copolymer which is intended to interact with the reinforcing filler. Such a rubber composition has improved hysteresis properties in the vulcanized state, while retaining satisfactory processing properties in the non-vulcanized state.

Plasticizing system which can be used for the plasticizing of a diene rubber composition, wherein it is based on an MES or TDAE oil and on a resin formed of terpene/vinylaromatic copolymer, in particular copolymer of limonene and of stirene. Plasticizing system for a rubber composition

A plasticizing system used for plasticizing a diene rubber composition is based on an MES or TDAE oil and on Cfraction/vinylaromatic copolymer resin, in particular a copolymer of a Cfraction and of styrene resin. A rubber composition exhibiting an improved abrasion and cut resistance is based on at least a diene elastomer, a reinforcing filler, a crosslinking system, and a plasticizing system comprising between 5 and 35 phr of an MES or TDAE oil and between 5 and 35 phr of such a resin. A tire is formed of the above mentioned rubber composition. A process for preparing such a composition, use of said composition for the manufacture of a finished article or of a semi-finished product intended for a motor vehicle ground-contact system, in particular a tire and a tread of such a tire.

The present invention relates to a rubber composition usable for constituting a tire tread, said composition being based on at least (i) a reinforcing inorganic filler, (ii) a diene elastomer having a molar ratio of units originating from conjugated dienes which is greater than 30% which is prepared in emulsion and comprises carboxylic acid functions along its chain, and (iii) a bonding agent between said reinforcing inorganic filler and said elastomer which consists of a polysulphurised alkoxysilane. This composition is such that said elastomer is capable of being obtained by effecting: in an emulsifying solution, radical copolymerisation of at least one conjugated diene monomer with a precursor comonomer which is hydrolysable or oxidisable to carboxylic acid, in order to obtain an intermediate diene elastomer comprising precursor functions of said acid along its chain, then hydrolysis or oxidation of said precursor functions in order to obtain said elastomer comprising carboxylic acid functions along the chain.

Rubber composition for running tread and method for obtaining same

The present invention relates to a cross-linkable or cross-linked rubber composition having improved hysteresis properties in the cross-linked state which is useful for the manufacture of treads for tires. The rubber composition of the present invention comprises at least one diene elastomer having a molar ratio of units originating from conjugated dienes which is greater than 30% and comprising carboxylic acid functions along its chain, and a reinforcing inorganic filler. The present invention further relates to a process for preparing such a cross-linkable or cross-linked rubber composition as well as to a tire having reduced rolling resistance and a tread for a tire where the tread comprises the rubber composition of the present invention.

Composition for a tire tread and process for its preparation

A method for preparing a diene elastomer, such as a butadiene homopolymer or copolymer, in particular, a polybutadiene, with a high level of cis-1,4 linkages that has both a Mooney viscosity greater than or equal to 40 and a polydispersity index of less than 2.1. The method comprises a reaction of a catalyst system with at least one conjugated diene monomer to be polymerized and the catalyst system is based on at least: optionally one preforming conjugated diene; one salt of one or more rare earth metals; an inert hydrocarbon-based solvent; an alkylating agent comprising an allyl derivative of aluminum of formula R&#x2033;AlR', where R&#x2032; is a saturated or unsaturated alkyl group or else a hydride, where R&#x2033; is an allyl group and where n is an integer inclusively between 1 and 3; and a halogen donor that belongs to the family of alkylaluminum halides, excluding alkylaluminum sesquihalides.

Method for preparing a diene elastomer

A preparation process for a copolymer having two blocks usable in a sulphur-cross-linkable rubber composition of reduced hysteresis in the cross-linked state, such a block copolymer in which one of the blocks is a polyisoprene and the other a diene elastomer other than a polyisoprene, and this rubber composition for tire treads. A process for the preparation of this copolymer involves copolymerizing one or more monomers including a conjugated diene other than isoprene using a catalytic system including at least one hydrocarbon solvent, a compound A of a metal of group IIIA, a compound B of an alkaline-earth metal and a polymeric initiator C having a C&#x2014;Li bond which is constituted of a monolithiated polyisoprene intended to form the polyisoprene block, the number-average molecular weight Mof the polyisoprene block being between 2,500 and 20,000 g/mol. A copolymer is obtained in which the block composed of the diene elastomer has a number-average molecular weight Mof between 65,000 and 350,000 g/mol and a content of trans-1,4 linkages equal to or greater than 70%.

The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of a dilithiated initiator usable in anionic polymerization, a process for the preparation by anionic polymerization of a living diene elastomer which is provided with a carbon-lithium group at each of its chain ends, and a process for the preparation of a copolymer having three blocks starting from said living diene elastomer. The process for the preparation of a dilithiated initiator according to the invention involves of reacting a first reagent, a dialkenyl benzene, and a second reagent, secondary butyllithium, in the presence of a diamine, in an aliphatic or alicyclic hydrocarbon solvent, such that the ratio of the number of moles of first reagent to the number of moles of second reagent is substantially equal to 0.5, so that the initiator obtained is essentially a bi-adduct resulting from the addition of a molecule of secondary butyllithium to each of the two double bonds in the dialkenyl benzene.
