A drug injection device consists of a body, a cap, a striker, a spin wheel, a button, a spring, an ampoule, and optionally a needle. Each of the body, the cap, the striker, the spin wheel and the button is a molded plastic part, made out of mostly polycarbonate, which slide, snap, screw or rest in place, without the use of adhesives or fasteners. Also disclosed is a system for recycling a drug injection device having molded plastic parts made from mostly polycarbonates, comprising disassembling the drug injection device, separating the molded plastic parts from all other parts, and reprocessing the molded plastic parts together into recycled resin, which may be through regrinding, melting, and pelletizing.

The invention relates to a thermoplastic composition comprising A) aromatic polycarbonate, B) 0.1 to 5 wt.-% one or more polyether polyol(s) and C) one or more thermal stabilizer(s) selected from the group consisting of thio compounds excluding the following component D, characterized in that the composition additionally comprises D) 3,3'-thiodipropionic acid, wherein the total amount of components C plus D is 0.01 to 1.0 wt.-%. The invention also relates to medical technology products or parts of medical technology products consisting of such compositions as well as to a process for sterilization of such moulded parts by means of irradiation. The polycarbonate compositions according to the invention show significantly less yellowing after irradiation than known compositions and still have good mechanical properties.

A process for the production of impact-modified composition that contains polyalkylene terephthalate and polycarbonate resins is disclosed. The process includes (i) in a first step combining in the melt at 90 to 175&#xb0; C. glycidyl ester with at least one member selected from the first group consisting of polyalkylene terephthalate and polycarbonate to obtain a molten mixture, said member in powder form, and (ii) in a subsequent step combining the molten mixture with at least one component selected from the second group consisting of polyalkylene terephthalate and polycarbonate to obtain a composition. A thermoplastic molding composition containing polycarbonate, polyalkylene terephthalate and an elastomeric impact modifier is disclosed. The impact modifier that exhibits pH value of less than 7 and contains less than 500 ppm of sodium ions, is characterized in its core/shell morphology, where the core contains polymerized butadiene structural units and shell contains polymerized methacrylate structural units. The core is present in an amount of 40 to 70 percent relative to the weight of the impact modifier, and the glass transition temperature of the shell is greater than 23&#xb0; C. The composition is characterized in its improved surface quality and toughness at low temperatures.

A compatible blend of polycarbonate resin with a vinyl (co)polymer blending partner is disclosed. The preparation of inventive blend comprise reactive blending of polycarbonate, a vinyl (co)polymer and a novel compatibilizer in the presence of a transesterification catalyst and under conditions of time and temperature designed to promote transesterification. The compatibilizer is the polymerized reaction product of at least one vinyl monomer that contains no hydroxy groups and a hydroxyl containing monomer conforming to (I)where R denotes H or C&#x2013;Calkyl, Rdenotes H, Cl, Br, C&#x2013;Calkyl, cyclohexyl, or C&#x2013;Calkoxy, a is 0 or 1, b is 0 or 1, c is 0 or 1, n is an integer of 0 to 4 and X is an OH group.
