A selective magnetic trip unit comprises a fixed magnetic armature located facing a movable magnetic armature and a damping device with a blade mounted on the movable magnetic armature. The damping device is designed to be in an inactive state up to an intermediate non-tripping position when the movable magnetic armature is attracted by polar parts of the fixed magnetic armature during a first travel, switching to the active state resulting from a deformation of the damping device during a second travel of the movable armature between the intermediate position and the final attraction position causing tripping of the circuit breaker.

Selective trip unit for a multipole circuit breaker

An operating mechanism of a multipole circuit breaker comprises a toggle associated with an automatic tripping hook and an operating handle cooperating with a pivoting locking lever arranged to block the handle in an intermediate position in case of welding of the contacts. When normal opening of the contacts takes place, the locking lever comprises a radiating bearing surface cooperating with a protuberance of the bar to keep holding the locking lever in the first active position of the stop, during a first part of the opening travel of the movable contact of each pole, and a notch for receiving said protuberance causing unblocking of the locking lever to release the base close to the end of opening travel of the movable contact.

Operating mechanism of a multipole electrical circuit breaker

A magnetic trip device having two plunger cores cooperating respectively with polar parts of a fixed magnetic circuit excited by a coil. The effects of the plunger cores are opposing, and by adjusting the inital position of the moving core assembly constituted by these two plunger cores, the tripping thereshold can be adjusted with a large amplitude.

An arc extinguishing chamber for an electrical switchgear device, notably a circuit breaker or a current limiting unit, comprises an almost tightly sealed case made of gas-producing insulating material to house separable contacts with electrodynamic repulsion. The movable contact, in the shape of a bridge, appreciably follows the internal configuration of the case playing the role of a piston arranged on both sides of a first compartment generating pressure due to the action of the arc, and a second compartment communicating with the first via a minimal clearance J. The pressure in the second compartment is lower than that in the first compartment. Magnetic circuits can be arranged to accelerate the movable contact to the open position.

This invention relates to a circuit breaker operating mechanism. The base (70) of the handle (52) moves along grooves or edges (78, 80) on the fixed guiding part formed by the mechanism support plates (40, 42). The grooves (78, 80) determine the trajectory and the fictitious pivoting axis of the handle (52) accurately. Rollers (74, 76) are fitted between the base (70) and the grooves (78, 80) to reduce the friction forces. The switch bar (28) comprises a projection located close to each electrical auxiliary so as to give a remote indication of the state of the circuit breaker and to cause automatic resetting of the auxiliary releases following tripping.

Operating mechanism for a low voltage multipole circuit breaker

The invention relates to a terminal likely to receive two superposed conductors or cables. Between the cables is inserted an intermediate setscrew likely to shift axially by being fixed in rotation so as to transmit to the lower cable a retightening stress exerted by rotation of the upper screw after some development time.

A circuit breaker having a magnetic device energized by the current flowing through the circuit breaker to drive a contact arm to an open position at high speed to provide current limiting upon occurrence of a predetermined overcurrent condition. The magnetic device comprises a saturable magnetic shunt path, the iron of which saturates above said predetermined overcurrent condition, to energize the magnetic device and to cause a straightforward opening of the contacts.
