A rubber composition is based on at least one diene elastomer with a glass transition temperature (Tg) of less than &#x2212;40&#xb0; C., one reinforcing filler at a content from 60 to 110 parts by weight per hundred parts by weight of elastomer (phr), one vulcanization system and one combination of plasticizers, the said combination of plasticizers comprising more than 10 phr of at least one hydrocarbon resin with a glass transition temperature (Tg) of between &#x2212;40&#xb0; C. and 20&#xb0; C. and at least one supplementary plasticizer selected from plasticizing oils, hydrocarbon resins with a Tg of greater than 20&#xb0; C. and their mixtures, the total content of plasticizer being within a range extending from 25 to 65 phr, the contents of reinforcing filler and of plasticizer being such that the ratio of the total content of filler to the total content of plasticizer is within a range extending from 1.8 to 2.5.

Rubber composition including a hydrocarbon resin with a low glass transition temperature

A tire, which has an improved grip on wet ground, includes a tread formed of at least a rubber composition. The rubber composition includes: 20 to 100 phr of a first diene elastomer bearing at least one SiOR function, with R being hydrogen or a hydrocarbon radical, and with phr referring to parts by weight per hundred parts of elastomer; 100 to 160 phr of a reinforcing inorganic filler; and a plasticizing system. The plasticizing system includes: a content A of between 5 and 60 phr of a hydrocarbon resin having a Tg above 20&#xb0; C.; and a content B of between 5 and 60 phr of a liquid plasticizing agent. A total content A+B is greater than 45 phr. The rubber composition optionally includes 0 to 80 phr of a second diene elastomer.

Tyre tread

The invention relates to a studded tire the tread of which comprises a first part in contact with the ground and a second part placed radially to the inside of the first part, and at least one stud protruding from the tread, and the head of the stud being entirely anchored in the second part of the tread, in which the complex modulus G*(0&#xb0; C.) of the rubber composition forming the first part of the tread is less than 1.5 MPa and in which the complex modulus G* of the rubber composition forming the second part of the tread varies with temperature such that G*(5&#xb0; C.) is equal to or greater than 5 MPa and G*(20&#xb0; C.) is less than or equal to 0.5 G*(5&#xb0; C.).

Studded tire

Inflatable article equipped with an elastomer layer impermeable to the inflation gases, said elastomer layer comprising at least, as the predominant elastomer, a thermoplastic stirene/isobutylene/stirene (SIBS) elastomer. Preferably the SIBS elastomer comprises between 5% and 50% by weight of stirene, its number-average molecular weight is between 30 000 and 500 000 g/mol, and its Tis below &#x2212;20&#xb0; C. Preferably the airtight elastomer layer also comprises, as a plasticizing agent, an extender oil for the SIBS elastomer with a content preferably between 5 and 100 phr. The inflatable article is, in particular, an inner tube or a pneumatic tire for a motor vehicle.

Pneumatic article with gas tight layer including a thermoplastic elastomer

Inflatable article equipped with an elastomer layer impermeable to inflation gases, said elastomer layer comprising at least, as the predominant elastomer, a thermoplastic SIBS elastomer comprising a polyisobutylene block comprising an amount of units derived from one or more conjugated dienes ranging from 0.5% to 6% by weight relative to the weight of the polyisobutylene block, and, at least one of the ends of the polyisobutylene block, a styrenic block representing at most 16% by weight of the total weight of the block copolymer. Preferably the airtight elastomer layer also comprises, as a plasticizing agent, an extender oil for the SIBS elastomer. The inflatable article of the invention is, in particular, an inner tube or a pneumatic tire for a motor vehicle.

Pneumatic object having a gas tight layer containing a specific SIBS thermoplastic elastomer

Airtight and puncture-resistant multilayer elastomer laminate that can be used in particular in an inflatable article, such as a pneumatic tire for a vehicle, comprising at least the following three layers (phr signifying parts by weight per hundred parts of rubber (elastomer) in each composition considered): as an airtight first layer, a first elastomer composition comprising at least 50 phr of a diene elastomer; as a puncture-resistant second layer, a self-sealing second elastomer composition comprising at least 50 phr of a saturated thermoplastic styrene elastomer and more than 200 phr of an extender oil; as an adhesive third layer or interphase between the above two layers, a third composition comprising at least 30 phr of an unsaturated thermoplastic styrene elastomer.

Puncture-resistant air-impermeable laminate for an inflatable article

Self-sealing elastomer composition that can in particular be used as puncture-resistant layer in an inflatable article, comprising at least 30 phr of a saturated thermoplastic styrene elastomer, at most 70 phr of an unsaturated thermoplastic styrene elastomer and more than 200 phr of an oil extender. Inflatable article, such as a tire, provided with a puncture-resistant layer comprising, as self-sealing composition, an elastomer composition according to the invention. Advantageously, the puncture-resistant layer is combined with an airtight layer, for example based on butyl rubber, so as to constitute, in the inflatable article, a puncture-resistant airtight laminate.

Self-sealing elastomer composition

A multilayer elastomer laminate that is impermeable to inflation gases, which is capable of adhering to a diene elastomer composition and which can be used in an inflatable article provided with such a diene composition, said laminate comprising at least two superposed elastomer layers (phr signifying parts by weight per hundred parts of elastomer, in each elastomer composition considered): as a gastight first layer, a first elastomer composition comprising more than 50 phr of a copolymer containing polystyrene and polyisobutylene blocks; as an adhesive second layer, a second elastomer composition comprising more than 50 phr of an unsaturated thermoplastic styrene copolymer and optionally a liquid plasticizing agent at a content from 0 to less than 100 phr. This multilayer laminate possesses very good impermeability properties and a reduced hysteresis compared to layers based on butyl rubber, and also a high adhesion to a diene elastomer third layer.

Airtight multilayer laminate for a pneumatic object

A puncture-resistant multilayer laminate that is impermeable to inflation gases, comprising: a gastight first elastomer layer comprising a polystyrene/polyisobutylene block copolymer thermoplastic elastomer, and optionally an extender oil with a content within a range of 0 to less than 100 phr; and a self-sealing second elastomer layer comprising a thermoplastic styrene elastomer, identical to or different from the first elastomer, and an extender oil with a content greater than 200 phr.

Multilayered gas-tight and anti-puncture laminate object including same

An inflatable article such as a pneumatic tire provided with a puncture-resistant layer comprising, by way of a self-sealing composition, an elastomer composition comprising at least, as predominant elastomer, a thermoplastic styrene (TPS) elastomer, more than 200 phr of an extender oil and more than 20 phr of a hydrocarbon resin, the glass transition temperature of which is greater than 0&#xb0; C. The puncture-resistant layer is advantageously combined with an airtight layer, for example based on butyl rubber, so as to form, in the pneumatic article, an airtight puncture-resistant laminate.

Pneumatic article provided with a self-sealing composition

A self-sealing elastomer composition, in an inflatable article such as a pneumatic tire (), such composition comprising, as predominant elastomer, a thermoplastic styrene (TPS) elastomer and an extender oil with a content of between 200 and 700 phe (parts per hundred parts of elastomer by weight). An airtight puncture-resistant laminate () that can be used in particular in said inflatable article (), comprises a puncture-resistant first layer () comprising said self-sealing composition and an airtight second layer (), for example based on butyl rubber. An inflatable article comprises such a self-sealing composition or such an airtight puncture-resistant laminate.

A process for the preparation of a functionalized, coupled or starred block copolymer which is usable in a sulphur-cross-linkable rubber composition of reduced hysteresis in the cross-linked state, one at least of said blocks consisting of a polyisoprene and at least one other block consisting of a diene elastomer other than a polyisoprene the molar ratio of units originating from one or more conjugated dienes of which is greater than 15%. The process includes the steps of: (i) copolymerization of one or more monomers comprising a conjugated diene other than isoprene using a catalytic system comprising a hydrocarbon solvent, a compound A of a metal of group IIIA, a compound B of an alkaline-earth metal and a polymer initiator C comprising a C&#x2014;Li bond which is formed of a monolithiated polyisoprene intended to form the polyisoprene, said polyisoprene block(s) having a number-average molecular weight Mof between 2,500 and 20,000 g/mol, so that said block(s) other than a polyisoprene has/have a content of trans-1,4 linkages equal to or greater than 70% and a number-average molecular weight Mof between 65,000 and 350,000 g/mol, and (ii) addition to the product of copolymerization of a functionalizing, coupling or starring agent comprising one, two or at least three epoxy groups respectively, so that said block other than a polyisoprene is functionalized, coupled or starred.

Process for the preparation of block copolymers for tire tread compositions and these copolymers

A process for the preparation of a functionalized, coupled or starred block copolymer which is usable in a sulphur-cross-linkable rubber composition of reduced hysteresis in the cross-linked state, one at least of said blocks consisting of a polyisoprene and at least one other block consisting of a diene elastomer other than a polyisoprene the molar ratio of units originating from one or more conjugated dienes of which is greater than 15%. The process includes the steps of: copolymerization of one or more monomers comprising a conjugated diene other than isoprene using a catalytic system comprising at least one hydrocarbon solvent, a compound A of a metal of group IIIA, a compound B of an alkaline-earth metal and a polymer initiator C comprising a C&#x2014;Li bond which is formed of a monolithiated polyisoprene intended to form the polyisoprene block, and addition to the product of the copolymerization of a functionalizing, coupling or starring agent comprising an acetoxy group and of formula R&#x2014;Sn&#x2014;(O&#x2014;CO&#x2014;R'), where n is a natural integer of from 0 to 4 and where R and R&#x2032; are each alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl groups which may be identical or different, so that said or each block formed of a diene elastomer other than a polyisoprene is functionalized, coupled or starred.

Process for the preparation of block copolymers for tire tread compositions, and these copolymers

A preparation process for a copolymer having two blocks usable in a sulphur-cross-linkable rubber composition of reduced hysteresis in the cross-linked state, such a block copolymer in which one of the blocks is a polyisoprene and the other a diene elastomer other than a polyisoprene, and this rubber composition for tire treads. A process for the preparation of this copolymer involves copolymerizing one or more monomers including a conjugated diene other than isoprene using a catalytic system including at least one hydrocarbon solvent, a compound A of a metal of group IIIA, a compound B of an alkaline-earth metal and a polymeric initiator C having a C&#x2014;Li bond which is constituted of a monolithiated polyisoprene intended to form the polyisoprene block, the number-average molecular weight Mof the polyisoprene block being between 2,500 and 20,000 g/mol. A copolymer is obtained in which the block composed of the diene elastomer has a number-average molecular weight Mof between 65,000 and 350,000 g/mol and a content of trans-1,4 linkages equal to or greater than 70%.
