A method for producing an electrode material for a lithium-ion secondary battery. The method includes the following steps: (a) mixing components of a basic ingredient or active substance of electrode material and a conductive carbon material to obtain a conductive carbon material-composited material; (b) mixing the conductive carbon material-composited material and a surface layer-forming material; an (c) burning the mixture obtained at step (b) to obtain the electrode material. Also, a lithium-ion secondary battery including an electrode which includes the material.

A positive-electrode material for a lithium secondary battery is provided. The material includes a lithium oxide compound or a complex oxide as reactive substance. The material also includes at least one type of carbon material, and optionally a binder. A first type of carbon material is provided as a coating on the reactive substance particles surface. A second type of carbon material is carbon black. And a third type of carbon material is a fibrous carbon material provided as a mixture of at least two types of fibrous carbon material different in fiber diameter and/or fiber length. Also, a method for preparing the material as well as lithium secondary batteries including the material is provided.

Methods for the preparation and use of positive electrode materials coated with carbon in lithium secondary batteries

A process for the preparation of nanofilament particles of SiOin which x is between 0.8 and 1.2, the process comprising: a step consisting of a fusion reaction between silica (SiO) and silicon (Si), at a temperature of at least about 1410&#xb0; C., to produce gaseous silicon monoxide (SiO); and a step consisting of condensation of the gaseous SiO to produce the SiOnanofilament particles. The process may also comprising using carbon.

An electrode including an electrode material of the same type as electrode materials used in Li-ion batteries and a dye is provided. The electrode may further include a semiconductor material. The electrode is used in the manufacture of a battery that is rechargeable using light. The present invention concerns a lithium electrochemical generator including at least one composite electrode comprising an active material and a first and second solid electrolytes non-homogeneously distributed into the composite. The first solid electrolyte is of mineral nature, vitreous or partly vitreous, and is a specific conductor of lithium ions, and is preferably localized on the surface of the particles of active materials of the electrode. The second solid electrolyte is organic, comprises a dry or gelified polymer electrolyte conducting ions surrounding the dispersed solid phases and acts as a deformable binder, preferably elastomeritically, of the composite in contact also with the collector and the separator electrolyte of the generator. A thin layer of the first electrolyte wets and coats at least a part of the surface of the active material particles to protect the coated surface of passivation or degradation reactions induced by the second electrolyte, and to maintain a good quality of ionic and electronic exchanges between the active material of the electrode and the other components of the composite, the first electrolyte being impermeable to the components of the second electrolyte.

Lithium ingresses or egresses into or from the structure in order to compensate for a change in valency of the redox couple during electrode operation and thereby maintain overall electroneutrality.
