A roll of wiping paper is obtained by winding a sheet of multi-ply absorbent paper around a core. The sheet includes at least a first and a second ply of absorbent paper, each with a grammage of between 15 and 30 g/mand at least one of the plies incorporating a wet strength additive. The thickness of the sheet Ep being between 0.02 and 0.07 cm, the diameter of the core being less than 3.5 cm, the diameter of the roll being between 4.5 cm and 11 cm for a volume V of absorbent paper per unit length of the roll, and the absorbency A of the sheet in cmof water per gram of paper being greater than 6 cm/g. The ratio E=A/(Ep*V) of the roll is greater than or equal to 3.2.

A substantially rectangular multi-ply disintegratable absorbent sheet based on tissue includes at least three plies and has certain characteristics of strength in the cross direction of the sheet, strength in the machine direction of the sheet, a basis weight of the sheet, a thickness of the sheet, a flexibility of the sheet, an absorption of the sheet and a mean thickness of one ply of the sheet.

An embossed sheet is composed of at least a first and a second ply of creped tissue having a basis weight between 12 and 30 g/maccording to which the first ply has a first embossed pattern composed of a series of first aligned protrusions of frustoconical overall shape, the tops of which are oriented towards the inside of the sheet, and the second ply has a first and a second series of protrusions, the tops of which are oriented towards the inside of the sheet, the second series having a height greater than that of the first series of protrusions. The protrusions of the first ply and the highest protrusions of the second ply are nested inside one another, and the lowest protrusions of the second ply are arranged between the protrusions of the first ply so as to create empty spaces between the two plies and promote a rapid absorption of liquid.

The sheet of tissue paper includes at least one first embossed zone (A, A) having protrusions on a surface corresponding to alveoles on the other. The alveoles have a substantially polygonal base and the sheet includes at least one second, unembossed zone (B). In the invention, the alveolesare configured along at least one array, the mutually facing sides of two adjacent alveoles define a bridge (P) having rectilinear or substantially rectilinear edges of length L which is larger than its greatest width D, one or several bridges connected to each other subtending a path preferably between two second unembossed zones (B) which are separated by at least one first, embossed zone (A, A).
