There is provided herein a flame retardant thermoplastic composition comprising: a. at least one thermoplastic polyester or polyamide; b. at least one brominated flame retardant; c. at least one metal phosphonate or phosphinate. There is also provided a method of making said flame retardant thermoplastic composition; and an article containing the thermoplastic polymer composition.

Antimony trioxide free flame retardant thermoplastic composition

A transparent, fireproof thermoplastic composition which is free from halogen compounds and includes a polyamide-block graft copolymer formed by a polyolefin backbone and, on average, at least one polyamide graft. The grafts are attached to the backbone by the radicals of an unsaturated monomer (X) that has a function capable of reacting with a polyamide, and the radicals of the unsaturated monomer (X) are attached to the backbone by grafting or co-polymerisation from the double bond thereof. The composition includes, as a weight percentage of the total composition: 90 to 99 wt % of the polyamide-block graft copolymer, and 1 to 10 wt % of metal salts of phosphoric acid.

Halogen-free, fireproof, transparent thermoplastic compositions having high thermomechanical strength, in particular for encapsulation in photovoltaic modules

The invention relates to a polyethylene composition comprising a mixture of flame retardants which are bromine-containing polymers. The polyethylene composition is useful in the manufacture of pallets. A process for making the polyethylene composition through a masterbatch route is also disclosed.

Flame-retarded thermoplastic compositions of high thermomechanical strength, in particular for electric cables

A flame-retarded styrene-containing polymer composition, which comprises a styrene-containing polymer, tris(2,4,6-tribromophenoxy)-s-triazine, 0.5-1.7 wt % antimony trioxide, and an anti-dripping agent. The bromine content of the composition is generally in the range between 8 and 18 wt %. Additional brominated flame retarding agents may also be included in the composition.

Flame-retarded compositions of styrene-containing polymers

Fire-retarded propylene polymers having high thermomechanical stability

Granular flame retardant agents are disclosed which incorporate halogenated organic flame-retardant compounds, without any binders. The granular agents may further contain desired additives and organic or inorganic flame-retardant synergistic materials. The granular agents are dust-free and are usefully employed in a method for imparting flame-retardant properties to flammable plastic materials. A process for the preparation of the granular flame retardant agents of the invention by cold compaction is also described.

Flame retardant plastic materials and method for producing same

The present invention relates to fire retardant polymer compositions obtained by the blending of monomeric N-tribromophenylmaleimide, as a fire retardant additive with a polymer. The preferred amount of bromine in the composition is above 0.5% by weight thereof. The polymer is selected from styrenic polymers and copolymers, polyolefine, rubbers, epoxy resins, plasticized PVC and polyurethane. If desired, one or more additional fire retardant(s) may be incorporated in the composition. Optionally, synergistic fire retardant additives such as antimony oxide, or organo-phosphorus compounds are also incorporated. The flame retardant polymer compositions have improved properties compared with those obtained with known flame retardant reagents. It was also unexpectedly found that the fire retardant additive provides to the polymer composition stability against ultraviolet light irradiation.

Granular flame retardant agents and process for their preparation

The present invention relates to flame retardant polymer compositions comprising a flammable polymer and an amount of between 1% to 40% by weight of tetrabromodipentaerythritol as flame retardant agent. Optionally, synergistic flame retardant additives such as antimony oxide are incorporated in the compositions. The flammable polymers are selected from polyolefins, polyamides and styrenic resins or mixtues thereof. The flame retardant agent according to the present invention imparts to the polymer compositions improved thermal aging behaviour, thermal stability and non blooming property, compared with known flame retardant agents.
