A coppice header for a forage harvester adapted to be mounted on and powered by a forage harvester. The header including at the front side two circular rotatable knives, a feeding drum being mounted above each knife, said drums being rotatable about the same rotation axis as the respective knives. The header may also be provided with a front feed roll placed behind the knives and two additional feed rolls placed behind the front feed roll, wherein the front feed roll is equipped with guiding blades along the length of the feed roll. The blades have a central protrusion, so that the blades are longer in a region around the middle of the blade than at the lateral ends of the blades. The central protrusion is an inclined surface bent rearwardly away from the rotatable knives.

Header for a forage harvester

A coppice header for a forage harvester adapted to be mounted on and powered by a forage harvester. The header including at the front side two circular rotatable knives, a feeding drum being mounted above each knife, said drums being rotatable about the same rotation axis as the respective knives, wherein each feeding drum is equipped with one or more flat hook-shaped extensions adapted to grab the cut stems in the region immediately above the rotatable knives. The header may also be provided with a front feed roll placed behind the knives and two additional feed rolls placed behind the front feed roll, wherein the front feed roll is equipped with guiding blades along the length of the feed roll. The blades have a central protrusion, so that the blades are longer in a region around the middle of the blade than at the lateral ends of the blades.

A spring system for a feeder device of an agricultural harvester having a first roller movably mounted in a casing and biased by the spring system towards a second roller in order the compress crop passing between the two rollers. The spring system comprises at least one spring surrounding a guide rod that extends in use between a movable support of the first roller and the casing of the feeder device. The guide rod is formed of two telescopically collapsible parts, one connected to the roller support and the other to the casing.

The present invention relates to a forage harvester blower including a blower rotor having a plurality of generally radially extending rotor paddles which operate in a corresponding substantially cylindrical housing, characterised in that said housing is provided with adjustment mechanism for at least locally adjusting the diameter of the housing. The present invention further relates to a method for optimising the operation of a forage harvester blower and to a method for preventing damage to a forage harvester blower during operation.

Forage harvester blower

The apparatus is a spring system on forage harvester feedrolls. The upper forward feedroll has two concentric springs on each side. The outer spring is operative over the whole range of displacement. The inner spring exerts tensioning force on the feedroll only as of a certain minimal lifting of the feedroll. The rear upper feedroll has one spring on each side. This one spring has a substantially smaller spring force than the forward spring package. The feedroll supporting linkages are arranged with complementary and cooperating cam surfaces which are disposed so that, when the forward feedroll is lifted above a predetermined minimum value, the rearward feedroll is also lifted thereby (to a lesser degree) without even any lifting force from the crop material passing therebelow.

Spring system for feeder rollers in forage harvesters

A forage harvester is provided with a cutterhead frame (34), mounted on a support (40) which can be pivoted about an cylindric beam (80) at the top thereof. The cutterhead frame (34) can be pivoted about the axis (39) of the cutterhead (36) under the action of hydraulic cylinders (90). Lower feedrolls (26, 27) are installed in a lower feeder frame (24), attached to the cutterhead frame (34), and upper feedrolls (20, 21) are installed in an upper feeder frame (18), which can be tilted forwardly about a cylindric beam (67) attached to the front of the lower feeder frame (24). A coupling arrangement (61, 62) for the coupling of a crop collecting apparatus (10) also serves to support the upper feeder frame (18), when the latter is separated from the lower feeder frame (24). This arrangement (61, 62) enables the attachment of the upper feeder frame (18) to a tractor (110). Thus can be gained access for inspection and servicing between the upper (20, 21) and lower feedrolls (26, 27) and to the cutterhead (36). The support (40) can be secured to the cutterhead frame (34) in order to raise both together and gain access between the cutterhead (34) and the blower rotor (49).
