The drum brake has two shoes (12, 14), each presenting a web (16) and a rim (18) whose face facing the drum receives a friction lining (20). The drum brake is arranged on a support plate (10), and the web (16) of each shoe (12, 14) possesses a notch cooperating with a strut (40) determining the separation of the shoes (12, 14). The strut (40) bears in the neighborhood of one of its ends (50) a pivot (52) on which is articulated an actuating lever (46) extending substantially perpendicular to the support plate (10) through an opening (54) made in the latter in hinged and capable of cooperating with one of the shoes. The actuation of the drum brake is obtained by a simultaneous action and reaction on the actuating lever (46) and on the strut (40).

The lower part (11) of the chamber 8 of the geartrain (1, 3) has a profile substantially matching the peripheral outline of the lower gear, adjacent it, and forms a divider nose (12) connected flush to a discharge conduit (14) opening outwardly within an external container (16) the base of which communicates with the bottom part of the chamber (8) via an external conduit (22, 23, 25) including a restriction (26).

Device for lubricating a geartrain

The drum brake comprise two shoes (12, 14) equipped with friction elements (24, 26) capable of being urged into frictional engagement by an applying mechanism (28) arranged between two first ends (30, 32) of the shoes (12, 14), a fixed anchor block (34) disposed between the other two ends (36, 38) of the shoes, a spacer (44) mounted near the applying mechanism (28) and bearing at each end on one of said shoes, the spacer (44) including a device which lengthens automatically as a function of wear of the friction elements and constituted by a screw-nut system (58, 60) controlled by a pawl (76) mounted on an articulated arm (62) acting on a ratchet wheel (58). The deflectin of arm (62) and pawl (76) is an amplitude which increases as the distance between the drum and shoes increases, with the articulated arm (62) including an auxiliary portion (78) also acting on the ratchet wheel (58) when deflection of the articulated arm (62) reaches a predetermined displacement, whereby there is an increase in the rate at which the shoes are brought nearer to the drum.

Drum brake

The device (10), mounted elastically for example on a projecting part (30) of the caliper adjacent a projecting part (8) of the fixed support (5), incorporates a flat leaf surface (15) intended to be interposed between the cooperating slide surfaces of the caliper (31) and the support (82) and formed at the end of an intermediate leaf zone forming a flexible ramp surface (14) which cooperates, when fitting the caliper into position, with the adjacent part (8) of the fixed support (5) so as to cause the flat surface (15) to deflect and thus ensure automatic locking of the caliper, the unlocking being easily achieved manually by a similar retraction of the flat slide surface (15). The device (10) is made in a single piece from a sheet of stainless spring steel.

Elastic and sliding locking device for disc brake with a floating

A disc brake includes a caliper (10) slidably mounted on a fixed carrier (12) by an axial pin (38). A locking element (46) extends axially between the caliper (10) and fixed carrier (12) to maintain the caliper in circumferential alignment with the fixed carrier. The locking element (46) is fixed to either the caliper or the fixed carrier so that it will not become separated therefrom when the caliper (10) is pivoted about the pin (38) connection and rotated away from the fixed carrier (12) for servicing of the parts, and provides a snap-- together engagement of the caliper and carrier. A ramp (90) provides an interference engagement with the locking element (46) when the caliper (10) is pivoted downwardly into operational position relative to the fixed carrier (12).

Disc brake

A disc brake comprises a stirrup (10) mounted to slide on a fixed support (12) by way of a column (14) extending parallel to the axis (0) of the disc, the column (14) fixed to the fixed support (12) and received so as to slide in a corresponding bore (20) of the stirrup (10), and a locking element (50) associated with the stirrup (10) and with the fixed support (12) to cooperate in guiding the axial movements of the stirrup (10) relative to the fixed support and to oppose rotation of the stirrup (10) about the column (14) when the stirrup is in normal operating position. The locking element (50) is a rod having a first end (52) articulated to the stirrup (10) and a second end (54) articulated to the fixed support (12). The two ends (52, 54) of the rod have joints (56, 64) which provide the articulated connections and which allow the rod to move in a plane (Pb) perpendicular to the plane of the rotating disc.

The rotors (M, F) each have a conical outer profile and a constant pitch diameter, the rotors being mounted in opposition in the housing (1) with their axes (2, 3) parallel and their pitch diameters tangent (4). The grooves (5) of the female rotor (F) have a radial depth, in relation to the pitch diameter, which varies in inverse proportion to the outside diameter of the female rotor (F), and which, more specifically, have a circular cross-section the radius of which increases progressively in the direction of reduction of the outside diameter of the female rotor, the center of these radii remaining on the pitch diameter. The rotors are produced advantageously by molding a plastic or by casting a light alloy.

Volumetric machine with conical screws

The compressor, with rotating assemblies of low inertia, and of compact construction, comprises, housed in a housing, two hollow rotors (5, 6), for example out of plastic material, fixed respectively on a front shaft member (20, 21) journalled in a front bulkhead (26) and each supported at the rear by a rear bearing assembly (11) fixed to a rear end wall (2) of the housing and entirely contained within the internal space (7, 7) in the rotor. The drive is provided by the female rotor (6). The inner surfaces of the housing and the outer surfaces of the rotor threads are coated with an overthickened layer of an erodable coating material containing particles of a dry lubricant material.

Volumetric screw compressor

A disc brake includes a caliper slidably mounted on a fixed support through an axial column projecting from the fixed support. Rotation of the caliper about the axial column is prevented by the engagement of complimentary axial sliding surfaces on the caliper and on the fixed support. Upon axial movement of the caliper with respect to the fixed support in excess of a predetermined distance, the sliding surfaces may be disengaged, thereby permitting the caliper to swing about the column so that the friction elements may be replaced. Movement of the caliper with respect to the fixed support is normally kept to a distance less than the predetermined distance by a stop pin carried by the caliper.

The mechanical control comprises a pedal (10) pivotally mounted on a fixed shaft (12), a cable (26) having one first end (25) connected to a receiver (34) and the second end (27) connected to the pedal (10) by means of a transmission device, the transmission device comprising a force-transmitting element (22) pivotally mounted on the fixed shaft (12) and on an outer cylindrical surface (40) of which the cable (26) is wound, a locking system causing the force-transmitting element (22), the cable (26) and the pedal (10) to be connected for rotation when the latter pivots from its rest position by an angle greater than a predetermined minimum angle .alpha.m, a spring (56) being disposed between the second end (27) of the cable and the pedal (10) for tensioning the cable (26). The locking system acts by catching the cable (26) between a first catching surface (42) formed on the force-transmitting element (22) and a second catching surface (44) formed on the pedal (10). The mechanical control is more particularly intended for cable control of a receiver comprising friction members liable to become progressively worn with use of this receiver and also including resilient return means exerting a force which the mechanical control must overcome to actuate the receiver.

Mechanical control assembly

The invention relates to a spring (40) for a disc brake of the type comprising a caliper (10) mounted slidingly parallel to the axis of a rotating disc (30) on a fixed support by way of at least two axial sliding surfaces (14, 18) formed on the caliper (10) and on the fixed support and maintained elastically in contact, and two friction members (22, 24) received in anchorage and in axial sliding motion in an opening (34) in the fixed support to become frictionally engaged with the opposed faces of the disc on actuation of a brake motor (32). The spring is disposed between the caliper (10) and the supporting plates (26, 28) of the friction members (22, 24) and exerts on the latter a radial force (R) directed approximately along a radius of the disc (30) and in the direction of the axis of the latter and a tangential force (T) perpendicular to said radial force (R) to urge each of the friction members (22, 24) tangentially to the circumference of the disc to ensure maintaining of the latter in a preferential lateral position, the spring elastically urging the caliper (10) radially toward the exterior to ensure maintaining in contact of the sliding surfaces (16, 18). The spring consists of a bent metal leaf comprising two main arms (42, 44) connected by a central bend (52) and a hooking arm (80).

Spring for disc brake

A friction clutch assembly comprising a resilient annular member adapted to be engaged by a clutch release bearing to control axial movement of a pressure plate relative to a cover is disclosed. The resilient annular member comprises tabs which extend axially through apertures in the cover to provide said annular member with a fulcrum. Each tab defines a free end which is bent before assembly and resiliently deformable in an axial direction, whereby the cover is axially prestressed by the tabs after assembly. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, the apertures comprise a first portion permitting axial introduction of the tabs and a second portion permitting rotation of the annular member in a given direction relative to the cover, bent portions of the cover preventing the annular member from rotating in the reverse direction. In another embodiment, a locking ring is inserted between the free ends of the tabs and the cover to prevent the tabs from escaping through the apertures.

Clutch assembly

A clutch assembly comprising an annular cover, a pressure plate rotationally connected to said cover, a resilient annular diaphragm, and an annular element pivotably connecting said diaphragm to said cover. Tha annular element is provided with a radially extending annular portion which resiliently engages the diaphragm and with axially extending circumferentially spaced tabs which project through facing apertures in the diaphragm and in the cover. Each tab carries a resilient lug capable to be housed in an opening in the tab during installation of the element, the free end of said lug normally engaging the cover after predetermined axial stressing of the annular portion of the annular member after installation of the latter.

A drum brake comprising a pair of brake shoes having adjacent ends engaged by a wheel cylinder and supported against a fulcrum block, respectively, is disclosed. A handbrake lever, pivoted on one of said shoes in the vicinity of the wheel cylinder, is capable of cooperating with a spacer located between the shoes in the vicinity of the wheel cylinder to urge the shoes toward a rotary drum. An automatic brake adjuster is provided between the spacer and the other of said shoes, and the handbrake lever engages the one shoe by means of a detachable abutment adapted to permit removal of the drum without resetting of the adjuster. The one shoe and the handbrake lever are received in a notch provided at one end of the spacer, and a substantially rectangular leaf spring is located between the lever and the adjacent edge of the notch to urge the lever against the one shoe in a direction substantially parallel to the drum axis.

A drum brake of the type comprising two brake shoes adapted to be spaced apart by a wheel cylinder. The distance between the ends of the shoes which cooperate with the wheel cylinder is automatically increased to compensate for the wear of the brake linings by an adjusting device which defines the rest position of the ends. The device comprises an extensible member of the screw and nut type, two annular resilient members which grippingly engage corresponding cylindrical portions of the extensible member, and a cam which rotates the resilient members one relative to the other in a first direction upon a brake application and in the opposite direction upon brake release to limit extension of the extensible member to a predetermined value.
