An eye gaze and hand data capturing system for use with a human performing a manual task (such as a surgical procedure) with a hand-held instrument (such as a surgical instrument), includes subsystems for tracking pupil position head position and orientation, hand position, and force applied by the hand to an instrument, all operatively connected to a computer that repeatedly determines an eye gaze vector, the hand position and orientation, and the force applied to the instrument and records such information as a record of spatially and temporally coherent data in a database.

System and method for capturing spatially and temporally coherent eye gaze and hand data during performance of a manual task

An anatomical structure is segmented from images generated in an anatomical scan. A user input device is configured for manually identifying two or more seed points on a plurality of the images. An image processor is configured to identify an optimal path through seed points on the plurality of images with a graph search. The optimal path between corresponding seed points on different images defines a boundary contour, and the anatomical structure includes two or more boundary contour. The image processor is further configured to interpolate the boundary contours over a three-dimensional volume using cardinal splines.

Surface modeling of a segmented echogenic structure for detection and measurement of anatomical anomalies

A system and method for stereoscopic video teleconferencing provides an immersive virtual meeting experience. Each participant is surrounded by at least two video cameras. The system senses the position of each of the participants and uses this information to select, for each participant, camera pairs to capture a stereo pair of video images of each of the other participants. The system is adapted to isolate the image of each participant from the background. The system transforms the stereo pair images to adjust the perspective for the interocular spacing of each participant. The processed stereo pairs of video images are transmitted to the respective participants. For each participant, the system assembles a stereo video display image of a virtual meeting room, combining the stereo pair images of each of the other participants appropriately sized and positioned. Three-dimensional (3D) virtual objects can also be displayed and manipulated by participants.

Method and system for stereo videoconferencing

A mobile mapping system is designed to generate a geometrically precise three-dimensional detailed model of an unknown indoor environment. There is no limit on the distance the mobile system may travel, nor on the type of details that can be mapped. The same design is used for environments ranging from simple office hallways to long winding underground mine tunnels. Surfaces and features can be mapped from images acquired by a unique configuration of different types of optical imaging sensors and positioning devices. This configuration ensures that all the information required to reconstruct the three-dimensional environment is included in the collected images. Provided a sufficient overlap between two-dimensional intensity images and combining such with three-dimensional range images, the method reconstructs an environment by adjusting a plurality of images simultaneously.
