The present invention relates to compounds of the following formula (I):

The present invention describes a method for producing membrane receptors based on a baculovirus/insect cell system. The invention further includes the receptors produced by the method described herein, a model for studying the properties of these membrane receptors and an assay to screen molecules that are active on these membrane receptors.

Preparing membrane receptors from extracellular baculoviruses

The invention relates to an adenovirus fiber modified by the mutation of one or more residues. The residues are directed towards the natural cell receptor in the three-dimensional structure of said adenovirus. The invention further relates to a DNA fragment, and expression vector, and a cell line expressing said fiber, and also concerns an adenovirus, the process for producing this type of adenovirus, and an infectable host cell, as well as their therapeutic application and a corresponding pharmaceutical composition.

Modified adenoviral fiber and target adenoviruses

Method of producing a recombinant membrane receptor protein by introducing a baculovirus expression vector encoding the membrane receptor protein into a host cell, culturing the resultant host cell for a sufficient time to permit expression of the membrane receptor protein and baculovirus viral particles and separating the cells from the viral particles. The baculovirus viral particles are then recovered.

The subject of the present invention is the use of a polypeptide comprising at least 6 continuous amino acids of the sequence as shown in the sequence identifiers 1 to 5 as cellular receptor and/or coreceptor for adenoviruses. It also relates to the use of a cell capable of expressing such a polypeptide as well as that of a ligand capable of influencing the attachment of an adenovirus to a host cell and/or its entry into the said host cell. Finally, it also relates to a method for selecting or identifying a cellular receptor for a virus or the part of a viral protein which determines the attachment of the virus to its cellular receptor as well as to the use of a bifunctional ligand to target an adenovirus to a host cell carrying, at its surface, a surface protein other than the natural cellular receptor for the said adenovirus.
