An air distillation unit comprises an air distillation column () suitable for producing a nominal flow of gaseous nitrogen, the top of said column being connected to a liquid nitrogen source (), and operates by carrying out the following steps: a flow of compressed, cooled and purified air is sent to an exchanger () and then to the column, a flow of gaseous nitrogen is withdrawn from the column, the level of liquid at the bottom of the column is controlled; and injection liquid (), sent from the source to the column, is no longer sent if the required production reduces to at most the nominal production. Application to the separation of air by cryogenic distillation.

An oxygen concentrator portable by a patient, permitting producing a flow of gas containing 50% to 95% of oxygen from air, comprising air compression device, elements for gas separation by adsorption with pressure variations, and electrical energy storage unit keeping its charge for at least 30 minutes, the concentrator having a total weight less than 10 kg. Preferably, the gas separation elements are a PSA system using a zeolite X exchanged with lithium, as the adsorbent.

The invention relates to a burner including an injector one end zone (,) of which can be taken to high temperatures during operation of the burner. This end zone is made of an alloy comprising between 16 and 22% by weight of Cr, between 3 and 6% by weight of Al, between 0.1 and 1.0% by weight of Ti, between 0.1 and 1.0% by weight of Y,O,, and between 70 and 80% by weight of Fe. The burner can be used in a furnace in the glassmaking industry.

Burner with an improved injector and process for manufacturing this injector

The injector comprises a duct (31) through which a liquid fuel which forms a film lining its wall, and an atomizing fluid, are transmitted to its downstream part, from where the fuel is sprayed, forming a mist with the atomizing fluid. The downstream part has, from the duct (31) towards the free end of the injector, a chamber (32) for destabilizing the film which has a cross section that is larger than that of the duct, a throat (33) for detaching the film extending the destabilization chamber and having a cross section that is smaller than that of this chamber, and a spray orifice (34) which is open at the end of the injector, into which the throat opens, and which has a larger cross section. Use: heating furnaces, especially glass furnaces.

A burner assembly having improved flame length and shape control is presented, which includes in exemplary embodiments at least one fuel fluid inlet and at least one oxidant fluid inlet, means for transporting the fuel fluid from the fuel inlet to a plurality of fuel outlets-, the fuel fluid leaving the fuel outlets in fuel streams that are injected into a combustion chamber, means for transporting the oxidant fluid from the oxidant inlets to at least one oxidant outlet, the oxidant fluid leaving the oxidant outlets in oxidant fluid streams that are injected into the combustion chamber, with the fuel and oxidant outlets being physically separated, and geometrically arranged in order to impart to the fuel fluid streams and the oxidant fluid streams angles and velocities that allow combustion of the fuel fluid with the oxidant in a stable, wide, and luminous flame. Alternatively, injectors may be used alone or with the refractory block to inject oxidant and fuel gases. The burner assembly affords improved control over flame size and shape and may be adjusted for use with a particular furnace as required.

The invention relates to a device and a process for spraying a product, especially a liquid fuel, into a working space which is external to the device. The device includes a nozzle for prespraying the liquid fuel into a confinement chamber and an outlet for ejection of a presprayed mixture into the working space. An additional pipe is provided for ejection of a gaseous spraying stream into the presprayed mixture inside the working space, at the outlet which ejects the presprayed mixture. The invention is particularly applicable to burners for glass melting furnaces.

A process for melting glass in a horseshoe-flame furnace including a rear, a forward and a lateral wall and a longitudinal axis comprising the steps of: introducing a charge into a region of the rear wall of the furnace; running the charge, in succession in a longitudinal direction, through a melting zone to completely melt the charge and form a glass bath, through a homogenization zone and then through a refining zone; evacuating the melted and refined glass into a region of the forward wall of the furnace; sending an air-fuel flame from a first region in the rear wall which is staggered with respect to the longitudinal axis of the furnace, evacuating smoke from a second region of that same rear wall essentially symmetrically to the first region with respect to the axis; periodically alternating the first and second regions; and sending at least one oxidized fuel flame above the refining zone from a point on the lateral wail adjacent to the second region which is situated opposite the refining zone.
