A method of and device for recording images on an image-recording medium with a dielectric surface. A voltage is applied in accordance with an image pattern between a set of image-recording electrodes and a companion electrode. Toner powder is deposited on the dielectric surface in accordance with the applied voltage. Image recording is effected by alternately bringing the image-forming electrodes to a positive and negative potential with respect to the companion electrode. According to one specific embodiment, a high-frequency AC voltage is applied during image recording to the companion electrode or at least the image-forming electrodes at times when the latter do not contribute to image forming.

Method of recording images and an image-forming device for application

An image-forming device for recording images on a dielectric surface of an image-recording medium, in which the dielectric surface is in contact, in an image-forming zone, with developing powder bound to a powder support by a magnet system, the magnet system having two oppositely magnetized areas separated by a gap and, as considered in the direction of transport of the image-recording medium, disposed consecutively, the distance between at least one of the magnetized areas and the surface of the powder support being less than 150 .mu.m and the distance between the same magnetized area and the surface of the image-recording medium being less than 600 .mu.m, thus raising the background-free level while less magnetic material is required for the magnet system than in comparable devices.

Image forming device

A method and apparatus for developing a latent magnetic image in which a layer of magnetically attractable toner powder having a specific resistance less than 10.sup.9 ohms.meter is conveyed by a toner conveyor to a developing zone past a medium carrying the latent image and an AC voltage is applied between the toner conveyor and the medium carrying the latent image.

Method and apparatus for developing a latent magnetic image

A magnetic head array for use in a magnetographic printer, in which local magnetic fields are generated by U-shaped wires each having a complete magnetic yoke formed by bending a foil made up of alternative parallel conductive and soft-magnetic wires over a thin sheet of soft-magnetic material. In a magnetographic printer the array is brought into contact at the U-shape bend with a magnetizable medium. The areas magnetized by the individual wires are sharply defined.
