A method distributes cell-level aggregated data available from a mobile communication network and aggregated at the level of single network cells. The method subdivides a geographic area in geographic area portions, and causes mobile terminals situated in the geographic area to calculate and provide respective geographic position estimates to a data processing system. An overall number of geographic position estimates are distributed by assigning to each geographic area portion a respective number of geographic position estimates. Cell-level aggregated data relating to a network cell is received, and for each network cell, covered geographic area portions are determined. The cell-level aggregated data of the network cell is distributed according to a respective distribution factor. A distribution map of the cell-level aggregated data is generated in which to each of the geographic area portions of the geographic area of interest a respective quota of the cell-level aggregated data is assigned.

A method including subdividing a geographic area of interest in geographic zones; subdividing the geographic area of interest in geographic area portions; causing mobile communication terminals situated in the geographic area of interest to calculate respective geographic position estimates; distributing an overall number of geographic position estimates; receiving indications of events of interaction between the mobile communication terminals and network cells; identifying, for each one of the stored indications of events of interaction, the network cell in which the event of interaction occurred; building an array of presences in which each geographic zone has assigned thereto a respective indication of a respective number of events of interaction occurred in the identified network cells which have, in the geographic zone, a cell weight greater than a predetermined cell weight value, and providing the array of presences in output for estimating presence of individuals on a territory.

Method and system for estimating the presence of people on a territory exploiting mobile communication network data

Matrices of movement in a geographic area are computed. The method subdivides the geographic area into geographic zones. Each entry of a matrix includes an indication of movements from one geographic zone to another in the respective time slot. The geographic area of interest is subdivided into geographic area portions, and mobile communication terminals in the geographic area calculate and provide respective geographic position estimates to a data processing system. An overall number of geographic position estimates are distributed by assigning to each geographic area portion a respective number of geographic position estimates. Covered geographic portions are determined among said plurality of geographic area portions, and each one of the determined covered geographic area portions is assigned a respective weight. A correspondence map establishing a correspondence between the network cells and the geographic zones is generated, and the weights are used in computing the matrices.

Method and system for calculating origin-destination matrices exploiting mobile communication network data

A method of counting individuals reaching or leaving a transport hub includes defining at least two categories of individuals, each corresponding to a respective purpose to reach or leave the transport hub, and for each category, defining at least one respective category pattern associated with the category. Each category pattern is a sequence of events of interaction between a User Equipment and a communication station. The method also includes acquiring event records associated with User Equipment from the mobile telecommunication network, searching the event records associated with each User Equipment to identify sequences of events of interaction matching a category pattern, and upon finding a match, increasing a number of individuals belonging to the category associated with the category pattern.

Method and system for counting people at a transport hub by means of data of a telecommunication network

A method of providing forecast of road transit times on roads of a monitored roads network, can include receiving a forecasted road transit time indication calculated by a road traffic monitoring system in respect of at least one road of the monitored roads network; and correcting the received forecasted road transit time indication based on information obtained from a cellular mobile communications network. The information includes information related to mobile terminals connected to the cellular mobile communications network and engaged in calls, and located in the neighborhood of the at least one road.

A method of determining an environment wherein a mobile terminal of a mobile radiocommunication network is situated, the mobile terminal being associated to an identifier. The method includes: i) retrieving the identifier; ii) retrieving at least one technical feature of the mobile terminal according to the identifier, the one technical feature being related to the capability of the mobile terminal of receiving a radio signal; iii) taking a measurement indicative of a quality of the radio signal at the mobile terminal; and iv) applying to the measurement an operation for determining the environment, the operation depending on at least one parameter, wherein the method further includes, before step iv), v) adjusting at least one of the at least one parameter and the measurement according to the at least one technical feature.

A road traffic monitoring system includes: a first input for receiving position estimations of mobile terminals; a second input for receiving input specifications chosen depending on the type of service for which such monitoring is performed; and an output for generating road traffic maps, each road traffic map being associated with a set of territory elements and including, for each one of the territory elements, at least one mobility index of mobile terminals travelling within such territory element. Preferably, input specifications are chosen among at least two of the following parameters, territory element, territory element observation time slot, and maximum allowable error on the estimation of at least one mobility index.

System and related method for road traffic monitoring

The peripheral unit for multi-videoconferencing permits multi-videoconferencing while fully exploiting the characteristics of a telecommunications satellite, and can also provide the service to users not connected to the ground network. In particular, the system can connect several remote rooms through a satellite network, interfaceable with a ground control center, to provide an overall mixed ground-satellite network able to simultaneously serve both permanent and temporary users. The peripheral unit is connected on one side to the transceiving station for the satellite link and on the other to the encoder and decoder of video and audio signals, which are generated locally or received from a remote station and organized according to a protocol provided with time-slot frames and superframes.
