The invention relates to (per)fluoropolyether block copolymers comprising: A) a fluoropolyoxyalkylene segment (chain R) comprising one or more units of formula (CHXCFCFO)&#x2014; in which X is hydrogen or fluorine; B) a (per)fluoropolyoxyalkylene segment (chain Rf), that is to say a segment comprising recurring units having at least one catenary ether bond and at least one fluorocarbon moiety, said (per)fluoropolyoxyalkylene segment being different from chain Rand having a molecular weight higher than 400 g/mol. These copolymers are endowed with improves lubricant properties or with improved water and oil-repellence properties.

The process comprises the steps of: 1) reacting the mixture (M) with a ketone, an aldehyde or a combination thereof to yield corresponding mixture of cyclic ketal/acetal (per)fluoropolyether derivatives [PFPEs (OH)] [protected mixture (P)]; 2) carrying out a molecular distillation of the protected mixture (P) to isolate a protected product heavy residue [product (P)]; 3) hydrolyzing the product (P) to yield deprotected product [product (P)]; and 4) carrying out a distillation under reduced pressure of the product (P) to obtain polyol (P).

The process comprises the following steps: 1) reacting the mixture (M) with a ketone, an aldehyde, or a combination thereof to yield corresponding mixture of cyclic ketal/acetal(per)fluoropolyether derivatives [PFPEs (OH)] [protected mixture (P)]; 2): submitting the protected mixture (P) to adsorption on silica gel to yield an adsorbed protected product [adsorbed product (P)] and then recovering a desorbed protected product [desorbed product (P)] by subsequent desorption from silica gel of the adsorbed product (P); 3) distilling the desorbed product (P) under reduced pressure to isolate a protected product residue [product (P)]; and 4) hydrolyzing the product (P) to obtain polyol (P).

A composition useful for imparting durable stain repellence and soil release properties to textile substrates, a method for treating textile substrates using such composition, and the textile substrates obtained therefrom.
