A detection device for determining the orientation of a first and a second wheel of a vehicle, the wheels being arranged on a first side of the vehicle with respect to a longitudinal axis thereof. The device is set laterally with respect to the vehicle on the first side, between the first and second wheels, and has a first and a second image-acquisition elements located on a base support having a respective viewing area for acquiring images of a first and a second target coupled to the first and second wheels. A displacement unit is operatively coupled to the first and second image acquisition elements for rotating them simultaneously through the same angle of rotation so as to adapt their viewing area to the position of the first and second targets. The detection device comprises additional alignment sensors located on the base support for measuring calibration parameters of the base support.

Detection device, and corresponding system for determining the orientation of the wheels of a vehicle

A system for determining the orientation of at least one first wheel of a vehicle and provided with: at least one first target integrally coupled to the first wheel, an image-capturing device that acquires a first two-dimensional image of the first target and a processing device, operatively connected to the image-capturing device and processing the first two-dimensional image. The first target has a three-dimensional shape suitable for defining geometric quantities arranged according to a known three-dimensional arrangement; the processing device processes the first two-dimensional image to identify the projections of the geometric quantities and determine a spatial arrangement of the first target with respect to a reference system based on the geometrical characteristics of the projections, to determine the orientation characteristics of the first wheel.

System and related method for determining vehicle wheel alignment

A positioning device for a measuring machine wherein a measuring head is movable in a three-dimensional space with respect to a first reference system, and supports a visual sensor having a television camera and a source of a laser beam. The device displays on a monitor the two-dimensional image picked up by the camera and on which is positionable a pointer movable by manual control to select a point of interest in the displayed two-dimensional image. The device moves the measuring head automatically into a position in which the origin of a second reference system, proper to the visual sensor and having two coordinate axes in the two-dimensional image plane, is located at a point, in the three-dimensional space, corresponding to the point of interest selected on the two-dimensional image.

Device and method for positioning a measuring head on a noncontact three-dimensional measuring machine

A viewing device wherein a measuring machine presents a movable element movable along three coordinate axes of the measuring machine; the movable element is fitted with an articulated measuring head supporting a viewing sensor presenting a television camera and a laser beam source; by analyzing the two-dimensional image picked up by the television camera and the position of the laser beam in the two-dimensional image, the coordinates of a point in relation to a reference system of the viewing sensor are determined; and the measurement is subsequently related to the reference system of the measuring machine.
