Process for the production of linear alkylaromatic hydrocarbons

The present invention relates to an improved process for preparing linear alkylbenzenes falling within such range as used in detergency (C.sub.10 -C.sub.14), which process consists of alkylating aromatic hydrocarbons (above all, benzene) with n-olefins in the presence of AlCl.sub.3, wherein said n-olefins are obtained by dehydrogenating n-paraffins.

Process for the preparation of linear alkylbenzenes, wherein the benzene is reacted, in the presence of aluminum chloride or aluminum in powder form, with a mixture composed of C.sub.7 -C.sub.20 n-olefins and C.sub.7 -C.sub.20 chloroparaffins, with a molar ratio n-olefins/chloroparaffins between 70:30 and 99:1.
