An apparatus includes an interface and a processor. The interface may be configured to receive video frames corresponding to an interior of a vehicle. The processor may be configured to perform video operations on the video frames to detect objects in the video frames, detect a driver based on the objects detected in the video frames, detect a use of an electronic device by the driver and generate a notification signal. The notification signal may be configured to warn the driver about using the electronic device in the vehicle. The notification signal may be generated if the use of the electronic device is unauthorized. The processor may comprise a dedicated hardware module configured to perform feature detection to calculate descriptors for determining a likelihood that pixels of the video frames belong to the objects that correspond to the use of the electronic device by the driver.

An apparatus including an interface and a processor. The interface may be configured to receive video frames corresponding to an interior of a vehicle. The processor may be configured to perform video operations on the video frames to detect objects in the video frames, detect one or more passengers based on the objects detected in the video frames, determine a location of each of the passengers detected and generate a climate control signal for each of said passengers. The climate control signal may be implemented to control climate settings in a plurality of climate zones within the vehicle. The processor may correlate the location of each of the passengers to the climate zones.

Efficient vehicle AC based on car occupancy detected by computer vision

An apparatus including an interface and a processor. The interface may be configured to receive first video frames of a first field of view captured by a first capture device and second video frames of a second field of view captured by a second capture device. The first capture device and the second capture device may have a symmetrical orientation with respect to a vehicle. The fields of view may have an overlapping region. The processor may be configured to select the capture devices to operate as a stereo pair of cameras based on the symmetrical orientation, receive the video frames from the interface, detect an object located in the overlapping region, perform a comparison operation on the object based on the symmetrical orientation with respect to the video frames and determine a distance of the object from the vehicle in response to the comparison operation.

An apparatus including an interface and a processor. The interface may be configured to receive video frames corresponding to an interior of a vehicle. The processor may be configured to perform video operations on the video frames to detect objects in the video frames, detect one or more passengers based on the objects detected in the video frames, determine a location of each of the passengers detected, determine which of the passengers may be an audio source and generate a control signal in response to the audio source. The control signal may be configured to adjust an input of a microphone towards the audio source. The video operations may be used to determine the location and the audio source.

Optimize the audio capture during conference call in cars

An apparatus includes a surround view display and a processing circuit. The processing circuit may be configured to (i) use a first signal from one or more primary surround view cameras to produce a two-dimensional view on the surround view display of an area around a bottom of a vehicle, (ii) detect obstacles around and above a top of the vehicle using a third signal from at least one respective detection and ranging sensor, (iii) divide a second signal from the one or more supplementary cameras into portions to obtain a portion less than an entire field of view of the one or more supplementary cameras in which an obstacle is detected, (iv) perform a dewarping operation on the portion less than the entire field of view of the one or more supplementary cameras in which the obstacle is detected, and (v) generate an overlay view containing the portion less than the entire field of view of the one or more supplementary cameras in which the obstacle is detected on the two-dimensional view of the area around the bottom of the vehicle to inform an operator of the detected obstacle above the vehicle.

Obstacle detection in vehicle using a wide angle camera and radar sensor fusion

An apparatus includes a primary surround view camera, a supplementary camera, a detection and ranging sensor, and a surround view display. The primary surround view camera is generally placed at a front of a vehicle and provides an operator of the vehicle with a view of the road. The at least one detection and ranging sensor is generally mounted adjacent to the supplementary camera and configured to detect obstacles within a field of view of the supplementary camera. An output of the primary surround view camera is generally used to produce a two-dimensional view of an area around the vehicle and an output of the supplementary camera is (i) reduced to a portion of the field of view of the supplementary camera in which the detection and ranging sensor detected an obstacle and (ii) overlaid on the two-dimensional view of the area around the vehicle to inform the operator of the detected obstacle.
