A multifunction rangefinder capable of measuring distance, compass location and altitude. A distance measurement unit capable of long and short distance measurements transmits a light beam to a target, receives a reflected light from the target and outputs a distance measurement signal. A compass measurement unit measures terrestrial magnetism and outputs a compass measurement signal. An altitude measurement unit measures atmospheric pressure to generate an altitude measurement signal. A microprocessor calculates a distance between the target and the multifunction rangefinder, altitude and the compass location of the target according to the distance, altitude and compass measurement signals respectively.

Multifunction rangefinder

A high power driver system has a predetermined number of driver modules for driving a high power device such as a laser-emitting device. Each driver module has a driver circuit and a corresponding feedback circuit. The driver circuits respectively generate driving currents, and then the driving currents are collected to drive the high power laser-emitting device or other high power devices. In addition, these feedback circuits of the driver modules receive the same detection signal that represents the output power of the high power laser-emitting device. Then, each feedback circuit responds to the same detection signal to generate a feedback signal, respectively, which makes the corresponding driver circuit carry out a feedback action for adjusting the driving currents.

High power driver system

A laser driver circuit for burst mode transmission is equipped in a transmitter at a client side within a P2MP (Point to Multipoint) optical network. The laser driver circuit utilizes a laser driver chip for a continuous mode. The selected laser driver chip is capable of working under an open-loop situation. A burst signal containing time slot information is fed to the switch connected to the laser driver chip. If the burst signal is enabled, a resistor of a predetermined value is connected to the laser driver chip via the switch so that normal driving current is generated for data transmission. If the burst signal is disabled, another resistor whose value is greater than the predetermined value is connected to the laser driver chip via the switch so that no or almost no driving current is generated, thereby avoid the signal collision problem of the channel shared by multiple clients.

Laser driver circuit for burst mode transmission

A light receiving circuit of a laser range finder comprises a photo-sensitive element, a conversion resistance amplifying loop, a main amplification loop, and a one shot circuit. The photo-sensitive element converts a light signal into a current signal. The conversion resistance amplifying loop is connected with the photo-sensitive element for converting the current signal into a voltage signal. The main amplification loop is connected with the conversion resistance amplifying loop for amplifying the voltage signal. The one shot loop is connected with the main amplification loop for shaping the voltage signal into a digital signal by which the range-finding computation is accomplished by the laser range finder.

Light receiving circuit of laser range finder

A laser range signal-processing device comprises a timing interval generator, a microprocessor unit, a programmable delay unit, a laser transmitter, a laser receiver, a high gain amplifier circuit and a memory. A signal-processing method of the laser range finder includes a first step in which the measurement block number and the laser emission time are set up. Thereafter, the sampling of the laser reflection signal of each block is done in sequence so as to determine a block in which an object is located. A laser beam of a predetermined delay time is emitted to the block in which the object is located. The reflective laser signals are sampled and processed to attain a precise distance between the laser range finder and the object.
