A leak detection system is configured to provide vehicle-specific leak detection for a vehicle. The leak detection system includes a memory circuit having a plurality of leak detection instructions matched with vehicle identification information. The system additionally includes an ultraviolet light source and a camera configured to capture an image of an area illuminated by the ultraviolet light source. A processor is in operative communication with the memory circuit and the camera. The processor is configured to facilitate identification of at least one of the plurality of leak detection instructions in response to receipt of vehicle identification information associated with the vehicle, and compare the image captured by the camera to a known image of the vehicle to determine presence and location of a leak.

Artificial intelligence vehicle leak detection system and related methodology

A method of determining a vehicle health score for a vehicle includes receiving location information associated with a location of the vehicle and identifying at least one location-specific health factor based on the received location information. The method further includes receiving diagnostic data from the vehicle, with the diagnostic data including data points associated with several different heath factors including the at least one location-specific health factor, each health factor being associated with an acceptable condition. The received diagnostic data is compared with the acceptable conditions for each health factor and a preliminary score for each health factor is assigned based on the comparison. A weight is assigned to each of the preliminary scores and a comprehensive vehicle health score is calculated based on each of the weighted preliminary scores. The comprehensive vehicle health score is then displayed on a display.

System and method for determining vehicle health

A drive-through vehicle diagnostic system for use in a drive-through track of a facility includes an offer generating module capable of presenting an offer to a user adjacent the track and receiving user input associated with a selected offer. A remote server is in communication with the offer generating module and is capable of generating a diagnostic procedure associated with the selected offer. The diagnostic procedure includes a prescribed data retrieval instruction and a prescribed diagnostic summary instruction. A scan tool is connectable with a vehicle and is configured to receive the prescribed data retrieval instruction and retrieve diagnostic data from the vehicle in accordance with the prescribed data retrieval instruction while the vehicle proceeds along the track. The remote server is configured to receive the retrieved diagnostic data and analyze the diagnostic data to generate a diagnostic summary in accordance with the prescribed diagnostic summary instruction.

Vehicle diagnostic system and related methodology deployable at vehicle service facility

A probe device has a main body and a probe body with different joints, where each joint rotates along different rotatable directions relative to one another. A user of the probe device may rotate the probe body relative to the main body along two separate rotatable axes to reach behind areas that are difficult to reach into using a probe device without rotatable components.

A method of providing vehicle diagnostics may include receiving a first communication from a user, processing the first communication using a natural language processing (NLP) model to produce NLP model output including a sequence of words, extracting one or more keywords from the sequence of words, and instructing a data acquisition and transfer device (DAT) connected to an OBD port of a vehicle to perform a selected function based on the one or more keywords. The method may further include receiving diagnostic data from the DAT, the diagnostic data having been retrieved from the vehicle by the DAT in accordance with the selected function, and determining a diagnostic condition of the vehicle based on the diagnostic data.

Vehicle diagnostics with intelligent communication interface

A method of calibrating an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) sensor on a vehicle includes receiving a signal at a handheld vehicle diagnostic tool from an onboard vehicle computer, with the signal including a list of ADAS sensors located on the vehicle. The list is displayed on the diagnostic tool and user input is received on the diagnostic tool identifying a selected ADAS sensor from the list. Calibration instructions associated with the selected ADAS sensor are displayed in response to receiving the user input. An image is projected onto a projection surface adjacent the vehicle, with the projected image being associated with calibrating the selected ADAS sensor. Computer executable instructions are executed on the diagnostic tool to autonomously calibrate the selected ADAS sensor using the projected image in response to receipt of the user input and projecting the image onto the projection surface.

Automotive sensor calibration system and related methodology

A diagnostic process includes analyzing vehicle data received from a vehicle to identify diagnostic data, and to determine an identity of the vehicle. A most likely fix is determined based on a combined assessment of the diagnostic data and the vehicle identity. A determination of a special function test to run on the vehicle is made based on the determined most likely fix. A signal is generated to run the special function test, and a determination of a pass or fail status is made based on the special function test. If no special function test is associated with the most likely fix, more targeted testing can be implemented through the use of a test box configured to monitor communications along communication pathways on the vehicle, and also to selectively activate/deactivate components on the vehicle.

System and method for guided vehicle diagnostics

A battery and alternator simulator for use in testing operational capability of a battery tester includes a user interface configured to receive a user input signal associated with a desired testing condition. The simulator additionally includes a signal database includes a plurality of testing conditions and a plurality of testing signals stored thereon, each testing condition being matched with one of the plurality of testing signals. A processor is in communication with the user interface and the signal database, with the processor being configured to identify one of the testing signals based on the testing condition associated with the received user input signal. A pair of testing terminals is in operative communication with the processor and is configured to be electrically connectable to a corresponding pair of terminals on the battery tester for communicating the testing signal to the battery tester.

Battery and alternator simulator

A diagnostic condition indexed kit for implementing a do-it-yourself automotive repair includes at least one replacement part compatible with a specified vehicle, at least one tool for installing the replacement part(s) in the specified vehicle, and packaging containing the replacement part(s) and the tool(s). The packaging may include an indicator, accessible from outside the packaging, referencing the specified vehicle and a diagnostic condition associated with the specified vehicle that is repairable by installation of the replacement part(s). A scan tool or app-loaded mobile device may be operable to communicate with an onboard computer of a vehicle and receive one or more repair codes associated with the diagnostic condition and vehicle-identifying information from the onboard computer and identify the kit based on the received repair code(s) and vehicle-identifying information. A server may match the repair code(s) and vehicle diagnostic information to a kit identifier.

Do-it-yourself automotive repair kit

A system for providing mobile application-based vehicle diagnostics includes a mobile communication device ('device') having an installed mobile application ('app'). The app receives an instruction to obtain vehicle condition information of a vehicle, determines a geolocation of the device, and displays a geolocation of a diagnostic service provider on the device. A diagnostic tool operable by the diagnostic service provider retrieves diagnostic data from the vehicle. A server operable by a different entity than the diagnostic service provider establishes a user profile associated with a user of the device and including a vehicle identification number (VIN) of the vehicle, receives the diagnostic data from the diagnostic tool, detects the VIN in the diagnostic data, derives vehicle condition information from the diagnostic data, associates the vehicle condition information with the user profile by matching the VIN, and provides the vehicle condition information to the app to be displayed on the device.

System and method for selective vehicle data retrieval

A method of determining a critical vehicle event. The method includes receiving vehicle speed data and airbag status data at a remote server. The method further includes deriving, at the remote server, a vehicle deceleration from the vehicle speed data. The airbag status data is analyzed at the remote server to determine whether an airbag on the vehicle has deployed, wherein the analyzing of the airbag status data occurs when a magnitude of the derived vehicle deceleration is above a preset magnitude. The method additionally comprises generating a critical event confirmation signal when the airbag status data reveals deployment of the airbag on the vehicle.

Crash detection system

Provided is a method of completing an incomplete drive cycle test on a vehicle resulting from an incomplete vehicle monitoring process. The method includes establishing a communication link between a portable electronic device and a vehicle computer, and receiving initial diagnostic data from the vehicle computer using the portable electronic device. The initial diagnostic data is analyzed to identify the incomplete vehicle monitoring process and a driving procedure for resetting an incomplete vehicle monitor associated with the incomplete vehicle monitoring process. Live data is received from the vehicle computer while the vehicle is in motion to track progression through the driving procedure. The method may include receiving subsequent diagnostic data from the vehicle while the vehicle is in motion. The subsequent diagnostic data is analyzed while the vehicle is in motion to determine if the status of the incomplete vehicle monitoring process transitions to complete.

On board diagnostics drive cycle advisor

A system for monitoring the status of a vehicle utilizing a monitoring unit and a receiver unit. The monitoring unit is operatively connectable to the vehicle via a diagnostic port and detects the voltage output by the vehicle's battery when the vehicle's engine is turned on and off, and voltage output by the alternator while the engine is running. From these voltage measurements, the monitoring unit determine the operational status of the vehicle's battery and alternator by comparison to predefined criteria, such as optimal voltage ranges or a threshold minimum voltage. When the monitoring unit detects that the vehicle's battery or alternator may be malfunctioning, a signal indicating a malfunction is transmitted to the receiver unit, for example the driver's cellular phone, which will generate a warning notification alerting the operator to the existence and component responsible for the malfunction.
