A method of forming a damper assembly for a motor vehicle drive train is provided. The method includes providing a damper flange including a pocket at an inner circumferential surface thereof and cutting an outer circumferential surface of a damper hub using the inner circumferential surface of the damper flange. The cutting results in a displaced damper hub material of the outer circumferential surface of the damper hub being displaced into the pocket. A damper assembly also provided that includes a damper flange including a pocket at an inner circumferential surface thereof and a damper hub including an outer circumferential surface fixed to the inner circumferential surface of damper flange. The outer circumferential surface of the damper hub includes a displaced damper hub material extending radially into the pocket.

Method of fixing a damper flange to a damper hub

A method of forming a damper assembly for a motor vehicle drive train is provided. The method includes staking a damper flange including a splined inner circumferential surface onto a damper hub to form a first rotational connection between the damper flange and damper hub; and forming a second rotational connection between a radially projecting protrusion of the damper hub and the damper flange. A damper assembly is also provided that includes a damper flange including a splined inner circumferential surface; and a damper hub including an outer circumferential surface staked to the splined inner circumferential surface of damper flange forming a first rotational connection between the damper flange and damper hub. The damper hub includes a radially projecting protrusion fixed to the damper flange forming a second rotational connection between the damper flange and the damper hub.

Method of staking a damper flange to a damper hub

A clutch plate, including: an axis of rotation; a first annular plate with a first side facing in an axial direction; a second annular plate: axially separated from the first annular plate by a gap; and including a second side facing the first side in an opposite axial direction; a first cushion segment connected to the first and second annular plates and including: a radially outermost edge; a slot extending into the cushion segment in a circumferential direction; a first edge connecting the slot and the radially outermost edge; and a second edge extending radially inward from the slot. The first edge contacts the second side and the second edge is separated from the second side by a distance in the axial direction; or, the second edge contacts the first side and the first edge is separated from the first side by a distance in the axial direction.

Clutch plate with cushion segments with dual engagement characteristics

A double clutch mounting assembly for a motor vehicle drive train is provided. The double clutch mounting assembly includes a double clutch; a damper configured for connecting the double clutch to an engine crankshaft; and a clutch actuator for actuating the double clutch fixed to the double clutch. One of the double clutch and the damper includes a pilot configured for insertion into an engine crankshaft to center the double clutch, damper and clutch actuator with respect to the engine crankshaft. A method of forming a double clutch mounting assembly is also provided. The method includes forming a subassembly by axially fixing a dual mass flywheel and a double clutch together and axially fixing a concentric slave cylinder to the double clutch.

Double clutch mounting assembly

A diaphragm spring, particularly for use in friction clutches, has a circumferentially complete outer marginal portion and an annulus of radially inwardly extending prongs which alternate with elongated slots and whose tips surround a centrally located opening communicating with the inner end portions of the slots. The intermediate portions of at least some of the prongs are offset with reference to the intermediate portions of the neighboring prongs, as considered in the axial direction of the spring, to provide passages, constituting enlarged portions of the respective slots, which allow for and can promote circulation of large quantities of cooling air when the diaphragm spring rotates with the cover of a friction clutch. The offset intermediate portions of the prongs have an arcuate shape and can be twisted, not unlike the blades of a screw propeller, to further promote the flow of air through the passages. Such offset intermediate portions can be equidistant from the outer marginal portion and/or from the respective tips.

Device for fastening a centrally recessed metal slug by slipping it over a projecting part of an assembly, including a collar or crown-like projection surrounding the central recess and extending from the slug in a direction in which the slug is to be slipped over the projecting part of the assembly, the surrounding projection being engageable with contact regions of the assembly adjacent the projecting part thereof after the slug has been slipped over the projecting part of the assembly, a region of the slug initially set back from the surrounding projection thereof being bringable over the travel path of the slug relative to the assembly, into contact with further contact regions of the assembly and, during mutual travel of the slug and the assembly, regions of the surrounding projection of the slug being shiftable radially inwardly so as to clutch and be clamped to the projecting part of the assembly.
