A collet includes a cylindrical body, and a plurality of longitudinally-extending orifices defined through the body and thereby providing one or more axially-extending collet fingers. A collet lug is removably coupled to each axially-extending collet finger.

Adjustable and redressable collet

A closing sleeve assembly with a ported sleeve is disclosed. The closing sleeve assembly includes a housing; a port formed in the housing; a sealing surface formed in the housing adjacent to the port; and a closing sleeve configured to move between an open position and a closed position. The closing sleeve includes an uphole portion configured to substantially cover the sealing surface when the closing sleeve is moved to the open position; a port formed in the closing sleeve and configured to substantially overlap with the port formed in the housing when the closing sleeve is in the open position; and a seal configured to engage with the sealing surface to form a fluid and pressure tight seal when the closing sleeve is in the closed position.

A method and system for installing one or more control lines on a travel joint is disclosed. A control line coil is arranged along a travel joint. An inner mandrel is coupled to an upper bushing and a lower bushing. The control line coil is wrapped along the outer surface of the inner mandrel. The control line coil comprises a first portion located proximate the upper bushing, a second portion located proximate to the lower bushing and a straight length control line extending between the first portion and the second portion. The first distal end of the straight length control line is coupled to the upper bushing and the second distal end of the straight length control line is coupled to the lower bushing.

Method and system for directing control lines along a travel joint

A position-indicating tool includes an outer mandrel that accommodates two or more indicator lugs movable between a first position, where the indicator lugs extend past an outer diameter of the outer mandrel, and a second position, where indicator lugs are radially contracted within the outer diameter, an inner mandrel arranged at least partially within the outer mandrel and providing a radial protrusion that radially supports the indicator lugs in the first position, and a pressure block arranged between the outer and inner mandrels to control a flow of hydraulic fluid between an upper hydraulic chamber and a lower hydraulic chamber, wherein, when a pressure threshold is exceeded in the lower hydraulic chamber, the hydraulic fluid is able to flow into the upper hydraulic chamber and thereby allow the outer mandrel to axially translate with respect to the inner mandrel and move the indicator lugs to the second position.

Hydraulically-metered downhole position indicator

Apparatuses and methods for controlling the connection speed of downhole connectors in a subterranean well are disclosed. An apparatus includes a first assembly having a first downhole connector and a first communication medium that is positionable in the well. A second assembly includes a second downhole connector and a second communication medium and has an outer portion and an inner portion that are selectively axially shiftable relative to one another. A lock assembly including at least one lug initially couples the outer and inner portions of the second assembly together such that, upon engagement of the first assembly with the second assembly downhole, the lug is radially shifted releasing the lock assembly to allow axial shifting of the outer portion of the second assembly relative to the inner portion of the second assembly, thereby operatively connecting the first and second downhole connectors to enable communication between the communication media.

Apparatus and method for controlling the connection and disconnection speed of downhole connectors

A slurry discharge device for use in a subterranean well can include a slurry flow passage extending longitudinally in the device. The slurry flow passage has flow passage sections. One flow passage section is positioned downstream of, and is laterally offset relative to, another flow passage section. Another slurry discharge device can include the slurry flow passage having multiple flow areas. One flow area is positioned in a downstream direction from, and is greater than, another flow area. A method of delivering a slurry into a subterranean well can include discharging the slurry from a tubular string through a first sidewall section of a slurry discharge device; and flowing only a returned fluid portion of the slurry through a second sidewall section of the slurry discharge device. The second sidewall section has a lateral thickness greater than a lateral thickness of the first sidewall section.

Offset interior slurry discharge

A multi-zone packing system having unique features that allow for remote operation, thereby eliminating the need to raise and lower a work string and crossover tool to various zones of interest during a frac pack, gravel pack or related completion procedure. The squeeze pack system has a crossover tool or port collocated with each zone of interest and remotely operated closing devices to allow for the setting of each packer and the packing job to be performed with minimal or no movement of the work string.

Remotely operated multi-zone packing system

Initially, a set of locking lugs lock an inner mandrel is locked in position with respect to an outer mandrel. Unlocking the travel joint is accomplished by applying a constant vertical or downward force on the tubing string. That vertical force is transmitted through the tubing string to the outer mandrel, which causes hydraulic pressure with a hydraulic chamber to increase. When the hydraulic pressure exceeds a pressure threshold, a pressure sensitive valve opens, and the hydraulic fluid gradually flows into a reserve hydraulic chamber, allowing the outer mandrel to move with respect to the inner mandrel. A viscosity independent flow restrictor limits the transfer of hydraulic fluid to a preset flow rate. After sufficient hydraulic fluid has been received into the reserve chamber, the outer mandrel aligns with the locking lugs, which then move from the locked position to the unlocked position. The travel joint then releases, allowing the outer mandrel to telescope inward and outward.

Hydraulically metered travel joint method

A travel joint and latching assembly is connected below a gravel pack service tool to set an isolation assembly while performing backwashing and gravel pack operations, in a single trip. The travel joint is protected against inadvertent expansion by a positive mechanical lock assembly which isolates and decouples mechanical loading forces which may arise during the setting of the packer and during gravel pack operations. Inadvertent set of the hydraulic packer during backwashing operations is prevented by a hydraulic setting tool which includes a shear sleeve and an expandable C-ring drop ball seat.

One trip backwash/sand control system with extendable washpipe isolation

A hydraulic setting apparatus has an isolation sleeve which covers setting ports and prevents entry of hydraulic setting fluid into a pressure settable tool such as an inflatable packer or a hydraulic packer. The mandrel of the setting tool is mechanically coupled to the mandrel of the pressure settable completion tool by a guide tube which provides an enlarged counterbore chamber. The guide tube is intersected by radial setting ports which permit entry of the pressurized fluid for pressurizing a hydraulic pressure chamber in the completion tool. A shiftable isolation sleeve opens and closes the setting ports. A radially outwardly biased split C-ring is engaged against the bore of the isolation sleeve. Longitudinal travel of the split C-ring is limited by a shear collar which is releasably pinned to the isolation sleeve.
