Ceiling fan hanger assembly

A ceiling fan having a motor assembly that can be secured to a structure, for example, by a downrod and a hanger bracket assembly. A light kit can optionally be carried by the motor assembly. The motor assembly can include a housing to which can be integrated or attached to a blade hub. Blades for the ceiling fan can be mounted to the blade hub.

A ceiling fan having a dual redundant motor mounting assembly for suspending a motor comprising a downrod, a hollow motor shaft suspending the motor from the downrod, a retaining pin extending through the hollow motor shaft, and a retaining rod coupled to the retainer pin for redundantly suspending the motor.

A ceiling fan including a retention system and method of redundantly retaining a ceiling fan can include a ceiling fan motor assembly including a hollow motor shaft at least partially surrounded by a motor housing. A retainer plate is provided at the bottom of the motor housing including an opening. A retainer rod extends through the opening in the retainer plate and secures to the retainer plate. A support cable couples to the retainer rod to suspend the retainer plate from a structure, wherein the retainer plate is configured to redundantly retainer the ceiling fan.

A ceiling fan mount assembly having a downrod assembly with a downrod and a motor assembly comprising motor and including a motor shaft. The ceiling fan mount assembly further includes a downrod plate coupled to the downrod and a shaft coupler coupled to the motor shaft and coupled to the downrod plate, whereby coupling the downrod plate to the shaft coupler suspends the motor from the downrod.

The downrod has an upper end configured to mount to a structure and a lower end with a mount motor. The ceiling fan also has multiple studs provided in one of the downrod mount or the motor mount and corresponding openings provided in the other of the downrod mount or the motor mount. The studs are received within the openings to aid in securing the downrod to the motor assembly.

The blade holders coupled to a plurality of blades rotatable about the motor during operation. The downrod comprises a wire disk mounting guy wiring to the downrod. A retention rod is utilized internal of the motor and downrod as a secondary retention method. An electrical connector is internal of the motor shaft and electrically couples to the stator to power the motor.

A ceiling fan assembly including a non-rotating motor shaft with an upper and lower bearing stop, a stator mounted to the non-rotating motor shaft, a rotor surrounding the stator, a motor housing having an upper bearing seat spaced above the upper bearing stop and a lower bearing seat spaced below the lower bearing stop, an upper bearing seated within the upper bearing seat, a lower bearing seated within the lower bearing seat, and a downrod coupling provided on the non-rotating shaft. When the ceiling fan assembly is suspended from a structure with the downrod coupling, the weight of the rotor presses the upper bearing against the upper bearing stop such that the weight of the rotor is transferred through the upper bearing to the non-rotating shaft.
