A method for delivering restricted items to users includes detecting that a user has selected a restricted item for delivery. A user profile is accessed, and authorization for delivery of the restricted item associated with the user profile is verified. Upon detecting a first authorization associated with the user profile, authorizing the dispatch of the restricted item to the user at a delivery location. The restricted item is transported to the delivery location by the mobile robot. The mobile robot has an item space with a lid and an electronic lock, which is locked during transit. A second authorization to confirm a user's identity before the user receives the restricted item. If the second authorization fails, communication is established between the user and a remote operator terminal via the mobile robot, and the remote operator terminal performs the second authorization and/or repeats the first authorization.

System and method for vending items

A method for unlocking a touch screen device includes providing a touch screen device in an idle mode. An area or region displayed on a screen of the device in the idle mode is contacted or activated to reveal at least one application icon associated with an active/unlocked state of the device. The region is moved, expanded or dragged to an edge of the device to change a state of the device to an active/unlocked mode and activate the revealed application.

An approach is provided for automatic loading of applications, including receiving user identification corresponding to a device. Data is also received, which indicates a set of one or more relevant applications that are a subset of multiple available applications. The set is automatically selected based on the user identification and an application favored by a contact associated with the user. Installation is initiated of an application of the selected set within the device. In some embodiments, access is provided to a social service via a network. The social service includes data that indicates multiple users, contacts among the users, and applications favored by the users. Access is also provided to receive at the social service a request message indicating user identification for a first user at a first network node. A message indicating a relevant application based on an application favored by a contact of the first user is transmitting to the first network node.

Method and apparatus for automatic loading of applications

A videophone apparatus includes a communication interface for communicating with a system server and a peer; at least one processor; and at least one memory including computer program code; the at least one memory and the computer program code cause the videophone apparatus to connect the videophone apparatus via a first wireless connection to the system server; transmit authentication information from the videophone apparatus to the system server via the first wireless connection for initiating account generation for at least one video call service; and receive client information from the system server. A method for tracking an active subject in a video call service includes establishing a peer-to-peer connection between a videophone input apparatus and a peer over a wireless connection; receiving information of a first resolution display of an A/V output apparatus of the peer; and generating a local video stream in the videophone apparatus based on a video signal provided by a second resolution camera of the videophone apparatus, the second resolution being greater than the first resolution. The method further includes generating a local audio stream in the videophone input apparatus based on an audio signal provided by a microphone of the videophone input apparatus; determining active subject information of the video call using at least one of the local video stream and the local audio stream; targeting the local video stream towards the active subject by selecting a first resolution view area from the second resolution video signal based on the determined active subject information; and transmitting the first resolution view area for displaying on the first resolution display.

The present invention relates generally to a thin, low thickness snap integrated within or built within a heart rate monitor belt or snap and electrode assebly. The snap can be integrated or built directly in to a heart rate monitor belt. Furthermore, the heart rate monitor belt can be integrated within a textile or garment, for example a compression shirt, sports bra or cycling shorts. The snap can be flushly integrated into the belt or garment such the snap does not take away from the general wearability of the heart rate monitor belt or garment.

A method for providing a video call service in a videophone apparatus comprising: establishing a peer-to-peer connection between the videophone apparatus and a peer over a wireless connection; generating a local video stream in the videophone apparatus based on a video signal provided by a camera of the videophone apparatus; and rendering the local video stream to provide a first preview video of the video call for a user of the videophone apparatus. The method further comprises receiving at least one frame of a peer video stream; rendering the at least one frame of the peer video stream to provide a second preview video of the video call for the user of the videophone apparatus; and cross-fading the second preview video with the received peer video stream in response to a frame rate of the peer video stream exceeding a threshold value.

A videophone input apparatus includes a body part configured to protect a circuit board of the apparatus; a cover part configured to be movable between an open position and a closed position, and when in said closed position, to at least partially received by the body part. A videophone input apparatus has a communication interface for communicating with a system server, a peer and an A/V output apparatus; a processor; and a memory which causes the videophone apparatus to connect the videophone input apparatus via a local connection to the A/V output apparatus and via a first wireless connection to the system server. The videophone input apparatus transceives configuration information between the videophone input apparatus and the system server via the first wireless connection; establish a peer-to-peer connection between the videophone input apparatus and the peer over a second wireless connection; and trigger a videophone service over the peer-to-peer connection utilizing a service account defined by the system server. Furthermore, the videophone input apparatus provides user input data for the videophone service using the videophone input apparatus; and provide user output data, from the peer, for the videophone service using the A/V output apparatus.

The wearing apparel includes a flexible substrate and the sensor includes at least one electrode, which has a signalling surface, and which faces in the same direction as the first surface of the flexible substrate. In addition, the sensor includes a signal transmission conductor, which is connected electrically to the electrode. The signal transmission conductor is attached in a watertight manner to the second surface of the substrate. The wearing apparel is comfortable to the user, and sensor in the wearing apparel is reliable, economical to manufacture, and waterproof.
