A trigger sprayer having six parts: (i) a dip tube, (ii) a valve, (iii) a flexible pump diaphragm having a circumferential valve lip, (iv) a shroud having a trigger, an element which engages the diaphragm, and front and rear mating elements, (v) a body having a closure for a container, an inlet coupled to the dip tube, a valve seat for the valve, an element which engages the valve lip, a discharge barrel having a proximal opening into which the valve lip seats, a vent chamber, a vent barrel coupled to the vent chamber, a rear mating structure coupling to the rear mating element of the shroud so that the shroud can pivot, and a forward mating element, and (vi) a combination nozzle and door assembly with a nozzle which couples to the fluid discharge barrel of the molded body, and has a trigger locking element.

Trigger sprayer

A liquid sprayer is provided. This liquid sprayer comprises a bottle having an opening and a sprayer housing attached to the bottle. This sprayer housing includes an electric motor, a voltage source for powering the electric motor, a pump driven by the motor, a switch for completing an electrical circuit, a nozzle mechanism attached to the sprayer housing for spraying a liquid. The liquid sprayer also comprises a venting mechanism. This venting mechanism comprises a vent housing having an inner surface and an outer surface, and a translating piston disposed in the vent housing.

A liquid sprayer is provided. This liquid sprayer includes a bottle having an opening and a sprayer housing attached to the bottle. This sprayer housing includes an electrical motor, a voltage source for powering the electrical motor, a pump driven by the motor, a switch for completing an electrical circuit, a nozzle mechanism attached to the sprayer housing for spraying a liquid. The liquid sprayer also includes a deformable &ldquo;pinched tube&rdquo; mechanism which prevents liquid from flowing through the nozzle when the sprayer is not being used. The sprayer housing also includes a trigger movably connected to the sprayer housing for closing the switch, translating the piston and creating a leak-tight seal by squeezing the &ldquo;pinched tube&rdquo;.

The nozzle cap of the dispenser is rotatably supported at the nozzle end of the dispenser body for rotation between ON and OFF positions. At least one locking member is integrally connected to the body to form a flexible connector which permits rocking movement of the locking member. The locking member extends laterally from one side of the body so as to be in full view when the dispenser is held in the hand of a user. The locking member fits within a recess formed in the nozzle cap to lock the nozzle cap against rotation when the nozzle cap is in OFF position. Inward pressure on the locking member releases it from the recess to permit rotation of the nozzle cap to ON position. The nozzle cap includes a discharge passage in communication with a discharge opening and may also include one or more additional passages which provide communication between a portion of the nozzle cap near the discharge opening and ambient air to prevent a child from sucking contents of the container through the discharge opening.
