The present invention is directed to a method of cleaning an interior surface of a fluid delivery system. The method comprises introducing a first liquid into the fluid delivery system and contacting the interior surface with the first liquid; forming a slurry by introducing a particulate into the first liquid and contacting the interior surface with the slurry; introducing a second liquid into the fluid delivery system and contacting the interior surface with the second liquid; and introducing a third liquid into the fluid delivery system and contacting the interior surface with the third liquid. The first liquid is substantially soluble or substantially insoluble in the second liquid, the second liquid is substantially insoluble in the third liquid, and the particulate is substantially insoluble in the first and second liquids and substantially soluble in the third liquid.

The apparatus for quantifying effectiveness of solvent to clean a coating from a substrate using a drip test includes a test stand, a drip test device, and a computer associated with the stand and test device. The test stand is adapted to support a glass panel at a predetermined angle. The drip test device is adapted to deposit solvent-based droplets onto a coated surface of the glass panel to clean the coated surface. The computer optically scans the glass panel and to determine cleanliness after a drip test is conducted. The method includes conducting a drip test on a coated glass panel, placing a template behind the glass panel, optically scanning the glass panel and template into a computer, and evaluating the glass panel for cleanliness based on the scanned image of the glass panel and template.

Method and apparatus for evaluating panel drip tests

A composition and method for treating oversprayed paints in paint spray booths is provided. The composition includes an aqueous solution of a compound such as chitosan, and a complex metal salt, such as aluminum chlorohydrate, capable of flocculating the oversprayed paint, and optionally, bentonite clay. The composition is useful for detackifying and flocculating oversprayed paint, and is particularly useful as a liquid concentrate for the addition to wash systems in paint spray booths for water-based and solvent-based paints. The composition is also useful in decreasing the time for phase separation of the organic phase and the aqueous phase in solvent-based removal processes.
