A data management system and method. The system is adapted to analyze a plurality of data queries and provide a metric with respect thereto. The system then orders the queries based on the metric to improve a performance parameter of the system or estimate an execution time with respect to the query. In a more specific implementation, the system includes code for analyzing a signature of each of the queries, comparing the signature to a calibrated signature and providing a signature score in response thereto. The system further includes code for estimating an execution time of at least one of the queries. The signature may be a cluster of statements in an appropriate language such as SQL (standard query language). As an alternative, the signature may be a set of features extracted from a plurality of statements.

System and method for adaptive query identification and acceleration

Encapsulating packets includes receiving packets at a queue of an encapsulator. The following operations are repeated until certain criteria are satisfied. A number of packets are accumulated at the queue. A current encapsulation efficiency associated with the accumulated packets is determined. A next encapsulation efficiency associated with the accumulated packets and a predicted next packet is determined. If the current encapsulation efficiency satisfies an encapsulation efficiency threshold and if the current encapsulation efficiency is greater than the next encapsulation efficiency, the accumulated packets are encapsulated. Otherwise, the packets continue to be accumulated at the queue.

Method and system for encapsulating variable-size packets

Encapsulating packets into a frame includes receiving the packets at a station of a number of stations of a network. Each packet is associated with a delay requirement that reflects a deadline corresponding to at least one of the stations. The packets are directed to queues of the station. An available channel of the network is detected. It is determined that one or more packets at a queue are ready to be encapsulated into a frame in accordance with the delay requirements. The one or more packets are encapsulated into the frame for transmission using the available channel.

Encapsulating cells includes receiving cells at a queue associated with decision points. Each decision point corresponds to a number of cells and is associated with a threshold criterion. The following operations are repeated until a threshold criterion is satisfied. A number of cells corresponding to a decision point are accumulated at the queue. Jitter associated with the cells at the queue is predicted, and it is determined whether the predicted jitter satisfies the threshold criterion associated with the decision point. If the predicted jitter satisfies the threshold criterion, the cells are sent to a buffer coupled to the queue. Otherwise, the cells continue to be accumulated at the queue. The cells in the buffer are encapsulated.

Method and system for encapsulating cells

Cell header compression is disclosed. Cells are received. A cell includes a cell header and a payload. The cells are sorted according to the cell headers. A compression control block is generated that describes the cell headers and an arrangement of the payloads according to the cell headers. The payloads are assembled according to the arrangement. A datagram is generated with the compression control block and the assembled payloads.

A system and method for interpreting a plurality of sets of program instructions of an avionic flight computer are implemented on a general-purpose commercially available computer having multi-processing capabilities with a greater number of processors than the avionics computer. The system and method include assigning each of the avionic computer processors to a corresponding one of the processors on the commercial computer and loading each set of program instructions into one of a plurality of cache memories each associated with one of the commercial computer processors. The system and method further include executing a shared process including the interpreter instructions on each of the commercial computer processors associated with one of the avionics computer's processors. Each shared process interprets only those program instructions intended for its associated processor. The system and method also execute an additional shared process on an additional one of the commercial computer processors not already assigned to one of the avionic computer processors. The additional shared process controls input/output and interrupt requests generated by each of the other commercial computer processors.
