Various embodiments provide an apparatus, system method for treating neurological conditions by delivering solid form medication to the ventricles or other areas of the brain. Particular embodiments provide an apparatus and method for treating epilepsy and other neurological conditions by delivering solid form medication to ventricles in the brain wherein the medication is contained in a diffusion chamber so as to allow the medication to dissolve in the cerebrospinal fluid of the brain and then diffuse out of the diffusion chamber to be delivered to the ventricles and brain tissue. In one or more embodiments, portions of apparatus have sufficient flexibility to conform to the shape of the ventricles of the brain when advanced into them and/or to not cause deformation of the ventricle sufficient to cause a significant physiologic effect.

Apparatus, systems and methods for delivery of medication to the brain to treat neurological conditions

A hydroseparator for separating particles based on the differences in settling rates such as for separating fly ash from gypsum includes a substantially cylindrical side wall closed at its bottom end by a floor. A laminar upflow is created through the hydroseparator by adding dilution water to the bottom of the hydroseparator and removing most of the added dilution water from the top of the hydroseparator. The remaining volume of liquid is removed in an underflow. The hydroseparator is divided into at least two sections by a baffle that extends about the interior of the side wall. An inlet is disposed in the center of the hydroseparator slightly above the baffle such that the material added to the hydroseparator to be separated is inserted into the section of the hydroseparator completely surrounded by the baffle. The velocity of the upflow is controlled such that it is not fast enough to cause the faster-settling gypsum particles to rise but is fast enough to cause the slower-settling fly ash particles to rise with the upflow. The upflow thus separates the fly ash from the gypsum and floats the fly ash to the top of the hydroseparator where it is removed in the overflow. An agitator is provided in the lower portion of the hydroseparator to evenly distribute wash water and to keep the gypsum fluid.

Method and apparatus for separating fast settling particles from slow settling particles

An apparatus and method to aid in detecting refrigerant leaks in a refrigerant system of the type including an air-tight system vessel, refrigerant within the system vessel, a closed loop of system piping with at least a portion thereof extending through the system vessel, and heat transfer medium flowing through the system piping. The apparatus includes an apparatus vessel for being coupled to the system piping; pump structure for pumping the heat transfer medium from the system piping, through the apparatus vessel, and back to the system piping; structure for heating the heat transfer medium within the apparatus vessel to transfer heat to the refrigerant within the system vessel when the heat transfer medium is pumped from the apparatus vessel back to the system piping and to cause the pressure of the refrigerant within the system vessel to increase; and control structure for controlling the temperature of the heat transfer medium and for controlling the increase in pressure of the refrigerant within the system vessel.
