Aspects of the invention include receiving a printed circuit board (PCB) having one or more of mounting pads thereon, determining a stencil for applying a solder paste to the one or more mounting pads, the stencil having a smallest aperture for a component requiring a standoff, determining a maximum threshold size for standoff particles based on the smallest aperture, determining a first concentration of the standoff particles based on the smallest aperture, determining a minimum threshold size for standoff particles to create the standoff for the component, determining a second concentration of the standoff particles to create a three-standoff seating plane for the component, introducing the standoff particles to the solder paste, the standoff particles in the solder paste having a concentration between the first concentration and the second concentration, and a size between the maximum threshold size and the minimum threshold size.

Creating a standoff for a low-profile component without adding a process step

A fixture to facilitate fabrication of a heat sink includes a base plate to support a lower section of the heat sink, and multiple registration pins extending from the base plate. A platen is provided over a heat transfer element (HTE) of the heat sink, with the platen including slip fit regions to slip fit around respective registration pins, and with the lower section and HTE disposed between the base plate and the platen, and forming a fixture stack segment aligned with an active region of the cold plate. A load plate is provided which includes slip fit regions configured to slip fit around corresponding registration pins with the load plate disposed over the fixture stack segment. The load plate includes a single load pin centrally disposed to apply a load to the fixture stack segment and facilitate bonding the lower section and HTE together.

An apparatus for traffic control is disclosed. A method and a system also perform the functions of the apparatus. The apparatus includes an alert module that broadcasts an alert signal to a vehicle on a roadway. The alert indicates a presence of an alert zone along the roadway. The apparatus includes an alert zone module that broadcasts a location of the alert zone, where the alert signal has a signal strength sufficient for an autonomous vehicle control system of the vehicle to receive the alert signal a predefined distance before entering the alert zone as the vehicle approaches the alert zone. The apparatus includes an instruction module that broadcasts one or more instructions regarding driving within the alert zone.

The present invention may include determining that a vehicle is approaching a display location. Tamper-respondent assemblies, electronic assembly packages, and methods of fabrication are provided which include multiple, discrete tamper-respondent sensors that overlap, at least in part, and facilitate defining a secure volume about one or more electronic components to be protected, such as an electronic assembly. The tamper-respondent sensors include a first tamper-respondent sensor and a second tamper-respondent sensor, which may be similarly constructed or differently constructed. In certain embodiments, the tamper-respondent sensors wrap, at least in part, over an electronic enclosure, and in other embodiments, the tamper-respondent sensors cover, at least in part, an inner surface of an electronic enclosure to facilitate defining a secure volume in association with a multilayer circuit board to which the electronic enclosure is mounted.

In certain embodiments, the tamper-respondent sensors wrap, at least in part, over an electronic enclosure, and in other embodiments, the tamper-respondent sensors cover, at least in part, an inner surface of an electronic enclosure to facilitate defining a secure volume in association with a multilayer circuit board to which the electronic enclosure is mounted.

Method of fabricating a tamper-respondent sensor assembly

Tamper-respondent assemblies and methods of fabrication are provided which include a tamper-respondent electronic circuit structure. The tamper-respondent electronic circuit structure includes a tamper-respondent sensor. The tamper-respondent sensor includes, for instance, at least one flexible layer having opposite first and second sides, and circuit lines forming at least one resistive network. The circuit lines are disposed on at least one of the first or second side of the at least one flexible layer, and have a line width W&#x2264;200 &#x3bc;m, as well as a line-to-line spacing width W&#x2264;200 &#x3bc;m. In certain enhanced embodiments, the tamper-respondent sensor includes multiple flexible layers, with a first flexible layer having first circuit lines, and a second flexible layer having second circuit lines, where the first and second circuit lines may have different line widths, different line-to-line spacings, and/or be formed of different materials.

Tamper-respondent assemblies

Methods of fabricating tamper-respondent electronic circuit structures and electronic assembly packages are provided which include, at least in part, a tamper-respondent sensor including one or more formed flexible layers of, for instance, a dielectric material, having opposite first and second sides, and circuit lines defining at least one resistive network. The circuit lines are disposed on at least one of the first side or the second side of the formed flexible layer(s). The formed flexible layer(s) with the circuit lines includes curvatures, and the circuit lines overlie, at least in part, the curvatures of the formed flexible layer(s). In certain embodiments, the formed flexible layer(s) may be one or more corrugated layers or one or more flattened, folded layers.

Method of fabricating tamper-respondent sensor

Tamper-respondent assemblies and methods of fabrication are provided which include at least one tamper-respondent sensor and a detector. The at least one tamper-respondent sensor includes conductive lines which form, at least in part, at least one tamper-detect network of the tamper-respondent sensor(s). The detector monitors the tamper-respondent sensor(s) by applying an electrical signal to the conductive lines of the at least one tamper-respondent sensor to monitor over time for a non-linear conductivity change indicative of a tamper event at the tamper-respondent sensor(s). For instance, the detector may monitor a second harmonic of the electrical signal applied to the conductive lines for the non-linear conductivity change indicative of the tamper event, such as an attempted shunt of one or more conductive lines of the tamper-respondent sensor(s).

Tamper-respondent assembly with nonlinearity monitoring

Manufacturing electronic packages is provided with enhanced heat dissipation capabilities. The method includes providing a plurality of electronic components, and an enclosure in which the electronic components reside. The enclosure includes a thermally conductive cover overlying the electronic components. The method includes providing at least one heat transfer element coupled to, or integrated with, the thermally conductive cover between a main surface of the cover and at least one respective electronic component. Further, the method includes providing a thermal interface material disposed between the heat transfer element(s) and the respective electronic component(s), which facilitates conductive transfer of heat from the electronic component(s) to the thermally conductive cover through the heat transfer element(s). The thermally conductive cover facilitates spreading and dissipating of the transferred heat outwards, for instance, through a surrounding tamper-respondent sensor and/or a surrounding encapsulant.

Manufacturing electronic package with heat transfer element(s)

Tamper-respondent assemblies and methods of fabrication are provided which include a multi-layer stack having multiple discrete component layers stacked and electrically connected together via a plurality of electrical contacts in between the component layers. Further, the tamper-respondent assembly includes a tamper-respondent electronic circuit structure embedded within the multi-layer stack. The tamper-respondent electronic circuit structure includes at least one tamper-respondent sensor embedded, at least in part, within at least one component layer of the multiple discrete component layers of the multi-layer stack. The tamper-respondent electronic circuit structure defines a secure volume within the multi-layer stack. For instance, the tamper-respondent electronic circuit structure may be fully embedded within the multi-layer stack, with monitor circuitry of the tamper-respondent electronic circuit structure residing within the secure volume within the multi-layer stack.
